When Mr. Ma was diagnosed with locally advanced pancreatic cancer, several hospitals told him the tumor, already invading blood vessels, was inoperable. He prepared to fly to the U.S. for surgery — until long waiting lists and his own failing health made that plan uncertain. Then he found Prof. Jiang Kuirong at the Pancreas Center of Jiangsu Province Hospital in Nanjing. A 10-hour operation later, his tumor was completely removed. Over a year on, he remains cancer-free.
