From the outside, it might look like restaurants are always busy and everything is running smoothly. The reality is often very different.
For us, the past few months have been challenging. Beautiful weather helps some parts of our business, while others struggle. Rainy days can completely change the picture. Public holidays, long weekends, changing habits, and an increasingly crowded market make it harder than ever to stay consistent.
We’re not speaking for everyone, only for ourselves. But we know we’re not the only ones facing these challenges.
Running a restaurant isn’t just about creating new menus, following trends, or posting nice photos online. It’s about showing up every day, adapting, staying motivated, and hoping people continue to choose you, even with so many new options around.
This isn’t a complaint. It’s simply a reminder that behind every small hospitality business are people working hard to keep it going.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support local restaurants. It means more than you know!
People often say, “Just create something new.” But it doesn’t work like that. Every new dish, every new concept, and every new idea takes time. Guests need time to discover it, understand it, and make it part of their routine. Constantly reinventing yourself isn’t always the answer.
At the same time, new hospitality concepts are opening everywhere, and while that’s exciting, it also makes it harder to stand out. We love seeing new places succeed, and we enjoy trying them ourselves. But we also believe there’s something special about returning to the places that have been there for years. The places that became part of your daily life, your lunch break, your after lunch coffee or your favourite dinner spot.
Not every challenge is visible from the outside. Not every quiet day appears on social media. And not every business that looks busy is having an easy time.
We’re sharing this because we believe it’s important to be honest. Hospitality is beautiful, but it’s also demanding, and sometimes it’s okay to talk about that too.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support local restaurants, cafés, and take aways.
It means more than you know.
