Construction of ishango started in 2014 by an unknown architect that goes under the name Kamelion. The Kamelion likes nature and Virunga National Park. Ishango is, according to George Schaller, the most beautiful place on earth. Ishango is the place where the Semliki river exits lake Edward and is one of the sources of the Nile. In ishango, there are Elephants, Hippo’s, Buffalo’s, Leopards, Lions,
crocodiles, Antilopes and a great variety of birds that can be seen. In 1960, a baboon bone was discovered with marks on them. This bone is called since then, the Ishango bone. Common interpretations are that the Ishango bone shows the earliest known demonstration of sequences of prime numbers[13]. Another interpretation is that it is a lunar calendar. The ishango bone is manufactured by one of our ancestors no less than 20.000 years ago. This makes the ishango bone one of the oldest known artefacts that have been made by early humans. The ishango bone was made 15.000 years before the Egyptians started making the hieroglyphics. Back to ishango in Beni now: On the terrace of ishango in Beni, there is a 5 meter high replica of the ishango bone. It is not finished yet. The replica still needs a last coating that will hold the exact original carvings in it. After this last layer of coating, the replica will be an exact copy of the ishango bone that is hold in the Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences in Brussels, Belgium. The ishango bone on the terrace of ishango in Beni is a symbol and a reminder to the people of Beni city Beni territoire, North Kivu DRC and the world that civilization actually started in ishango, 55 kilometers in a straight line from the city of Beni. Ishango aims to be a café-restaurant in Beniwhere intellect gathers to have fun and create new ideas to further develop Beni town, Beni Territoire and North-Kivu. At the moment Ishango consists of a Bar, a Restaurant and Café Kivu. In februari 2016, the VIP Lounge with Garden will be opened. Next to the restaurant there is a big indoor bar where people can eat their pizza's and brochettes and drink their drinks. Then there is a large open terrace that can hold 20 tables with 4 persons on a table.
