The Seminole Bar and Grill is sad to be reporting the loss of another member of our family.

The Seminole Bar & Grill family is devastated to learn of the passing of John Schmidt yesterday.

Jessica shares:

He was the biggest personality, all heart and silly questions. So interested in my life, would always ask about the boys every time I saw him. He'd gawk over their pictures and their accomplishments and the kind of mom I am.

He also wanted to know, always, what was your favourite "after bar food." I lost count years ago of how many times I heard him ask people that one. Stranger, friend, it didn't matter. He wanted to know if you stumbled in to a pizza place or went home and made toast after a night of drinking.

He'd always ask if there was a special man in my life, and tell me how lucky that man would eventually be.

We would blast the tunes, we would always do music trivia and quiz each other on the lyrics and the band members, and he loved how much I knew about some of his favourite bands. It's fitting that I've been listening to The Tragically Hip all day, they were one of his favourites, and I always thought of him when I'd hear Courage.

He would drink shots of black sambuca with his beer, and without fail he would compliment me on my "meniscus curve" which was a running joke between us. I'd always try and get the surface tension juuuuust right.

This one's for you Schmidty, I hope this meniscus makes you proud. Rest peacefully, friend. ❤️

Hello everyone!

The Seminole Bar and Grill is celebrating a birthday today.

It was 18 years ago today that Todd and Judy opened the doors for the first time under their management, with 7am to 7pm hours and a diner menu, while we waited for our liquor license to come through!

On June 1, 2005, we flipped over the Open sign, and you've all helped keep us going for an incredible 18 years!

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and the bottoms of our beers, we're thankful for all of you. 🥰
