Fourteen years ago today, Ben walked into DDDC as its one and only employee — no team, no office full of people, just an idea and the will to make it work.

Back then, "sales" meant Ben sitting in waiting rooms or offices without an appointment, without a meeting on the calendar, just... waiting. Waiting until they had five minutes for him. It's the kind of persistence that could easily come off as pushy — except Ben never let it. He did it with such grace that people didn't feel cornered, they felt cared for. That's how the world first learned: when Ben Asquith sets his mind to something, it gets done, and it gets done with patience.

What makes Ben special isn't just that he builds things — it's how he talks to people while he does it. He has a rare gift for opening a conversation, softening a guarded heart, and helping someone see a new point of view without ever making them feel talked into anything. That gift built relationships. Those relationships built DDDC.

Fourteen years later, that one-person operation is a team of 12 — and every one of us is standing on the ground Ben cleared himself, one office, one conversation, one patient afternoon at a time.

Happy 14 years, Ben. Thank you for showing us what patience and persistence can build. ❤

Exciting news from our friends at the Arctic Inspiration Prize! Since 2012, AIP has built an incredible legacy supporting northern vision, creativity, and culture — and now they're entering a new chapter with a northern-led leadership team. Congratulations to Jessica Winters on stepping in as Acting Executive Director! 🎉

Since 2012, the Arctic Inspiration Prize has had the privilege of supporting the vision, creativity, and cultural legacies of northern people across Canada’s North. The role of our southern partners, first ArcticNett and later the Fondation Rideau Hall Foundation, was to help build the operational capacity and systems needed to support that vision at a national scale.

Guided by our Board of Trustees and team of Region Managers, that capacity-building work is now complete, and the AIP is establishing a small northern leadership and administrative team to carry the organization’s day-to-day operations forward. We are pleased to announce that Jessica Winters, AIP’s Region Manager for Nunatsiavut, has taken on the role of Acting Executive Director while we undertake a formal recruitment process for an Executive Director to provide long-term leadership for the AIP.

We extend our sincere thanks to both southern partners for the valuable and unconditional support they have provided since 2012, which made this step possible.

To our Board, regional managers, laureates, co-owners, prize partners, selection committees, ambassadors, and patrons: the AIP is entering an exciting new chapter, and we couldn’t be more energized about what lies ahead. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.

What an incredible turnout! To every TKC citizen who came out to our 2nd Annual Information Meeting — thank you. The engagement, the energy, and the participation were huge, and it made all the difference. Good times were had by all, and we couldn't be more grateful to have such an engaged community!
