More ecstatic dancing...in Whitehorse?!
If your bag is conscious sober dancing, you might be asking why Whitehorse needs another offering.
Let me back up a little...
I started dancing in Ibiza 1988, and was a card-carrying raver all through the 90s in the UK. I had a studio and ran a label, put on club nights and raves, wrote for music magazines and danced my way across the UK and Europe.
Music was literally my life.
Settling into a regular job and family life in Whitehorse, I DJ'd some great nights over the last 10 years. Some of you may know me (or my nights) as Funky Kingston, Strictly Rhythm, Just Dance, Nugroove Funk and DJ Winston Smith.
I've played at every bar/club in town , to packed dance-floors and hands in the air dancers!
Newly sober and having taken some time away from the dance scene, I've been inspired by the beautiful groundswell of support for conscious dancing in this community over the last few years at Dance Temple and Ecstatic Dance Collective. It's made me realize: I'm not ready to retire just yet!
My love for bringing people together and experiencing the transcendent bliss of dancing is just to strong!
Strictly Rhythm Ecstatic Dance is about finding the very best music i can, with many hours/days/weeks of research going into every event.
I will always share playlists/mixes before the dance, so you can see if it floats your boat!
So here's the first one, joyful thumping House music that makes me want to dance my ass off!
