Breakwater Tasting Room Breakwater Tasting Room, located beneath the Breakwater Bistro, is a different kind of dive bar.

Head Chef Israel Alvarez and team have created a relaxed, intimate dining experience with a menu of locally sourced, sustainable ingredients. The Tasting Room offers authentic Mexican tacos, tostadas and botanas ideal for sharing, alongside a BC/Island focused spirits, beer and wine list.

Our Jefe de Cocina is a titan of the tortilla, with each one being handcrafted using the ancient Mesoamerican process of Nixtamalization. Combine with ethically sourced ingredients from the island and BC, and you've got yourself a dream team.

The Breakwater Tasting Room, located beneath the Breakwater Bistro, is a different kind of dive bar. Head Chef Israel Alvarez, formerly of Pujol, CDMX, has handcrafted a tantalisingly intimate menu of authentic Nixtamal tacos and botanas with an unmistakable Pacific Northwest twist.

We believe in simple ingredients, sustainably and ethically sourced. All our corn is grown single origin in Oaxaca, Mexico and is organic, heirloom and completely GMO free. We work with suppliers from Vancouver Island and across BC to bring you the best our region has to offer.

If you’re after drinks, choose a glass from our thoughtfully curated beer selection, or sample one of our wine flights. A selection of handcrafted cocktails round out our drinks menu.

Open Tuesday to Sunday, 4:00 pm until late.
