The Kino

The Kino With government restrictions and no performances allowed for 20 months the Kino closed permanently!!!

Since the mid 1990's, Kino Cafe, a neighbourhood bar and restaurant, has hosted Flamenco dance performances featuring local artists. Kino Cafe also hosts various musical and jazz acts and is the longest running Stand-up Comedy room in Vancouver - 8 years and counting!

Just wondering if anyone out there knows of a one bedroom near Granville Island under $2000 a month? Am I crazy to think this is possible? Maybe, but you don’t ask you don’t know.

Due to the outbreak of the Carona Virus there will be no flamenco shows at the Kino!
By order of the Provincial Health Officer under the Public Health ACT

Section 22 “ Patrons must not sing, engage in Kareoke or dance on the premises.”

Further

Section 24 goes on to say that if singing is performed there must be plastic shield of a distance of 3 meters to the nearest patron.

Given the social distancing rules for the Kino this would allow approximately 21 people in our restaurant that normally holds 80.

I’m sorry to say that these are the rules and when they ease up there will be flamenco again.

Tomorrow night at the Kino!!!!!!!!!!!
Allison is a recent a high school graduate and has been singing and playing piano since the age of six. She was the soprano section leader of Magee's Chamber choir as well as playing the lead in Magee's production of Spamalot. She was also sang as a guest of Jennifer Scott at the cellar jazz club during the 2013 Vancouver Jazz festival.

Hey Comics! This Sunday at Kino we're having THREE MINUTE COMEDY!
Here's the rules: as soon as your foot touches the stage you get three minutes to make us laugh.
At 2:45 you get the light and then you have 15 seconds to finish what you're talking about because at the three minute mark the next person is introduced on to the stage.
It's as simple as that! First come first serve…………. It's the equivalent to the three minute spots at the Laugh Factory on Sunset Boulevard in L.A.
Come and prepare for your first trip to L.A.
Then head over to Jonny Paul 's Sunday night show, Crafty Comedy, 12 Kings Pub for 9:00 p.m. and practice some more!
We'll have the audience vote on the best three and they can go on to do five minutes each and split the door! Now this show just got interesting!
So bring your friends. More importantly, bring your funny!
