WE ARE NOT A RESTAURANT, so aside from a few simple concert snacks, you may wish to plan to visit a neighbouring restaurant before or after visiting us. WE ARE ALSO NOT A COCKTAIL BAR, so be ready for a tasty beer, nice glass of wine or a simple mixed drink - - - We are all about the shows and thus we keep our bar moving quickly with simple drinks!

I came through the back door of ‘TONIGHT BAR’ today … One final sweep.

I poured myself a pint … sat quietly at the bar for 20 minutes … just looking at the stage as I sipped.

I thought about the 100’s of shows that happened right there in front of that tape-filled wall.

Some by people who already perform in theatres & arenas.
Some by people who are so clearly on their way there.
Some who are finding their voice more & more each time they hit a stage.
Some who are just blindly giving it a shot because they feel something strong inside and wanna see if they can find others who feel the same.

Regardless of where anyone might land on that scale = they were all F’n magic!

Here’s why -

Millions of people go through life never finding the courage to even try.
I’ve met countless people who voice their regret for never giving it a shot.
To stand in front of a crowd and offer an artistic way of seeing the world ...
Whether through a joke or a melody, those creatives bring a lot of colour to an often beige world.
It takes a lot of spine ... and for that, they all have my respect.
I think I showed that over the last 5+ years, and I take incredible pride in the veritable landslide of kind messages I’ve received in the last few days from artists who brought their energy through this place.

Don’t stop.

Raise your flag and see who salutes it.

Thank you all for getting what we were doing over here.
.. That was a tasty pint.

LauraLee.

Our neighbour & friend.

In many ways, Tonight Bar could not have happened without her.  Lauralee was present during those days of demolition and dust & very easily became our friend when we first opened.

Never a complaint if the volume occasionally got a little high. 
Never got mad when boisterous comedians would laugh & congregate out front.

This is such a rarity. Many venues are subject to complaints from spiritless folks who want library silence around their homes while living on a major streets in a major city. Understandably, an abusively loud venue is a bad thing, but sadly lots of miserable pricks will balk at little more than a brief hum, the mere resonance of metropolitan living. That attitude strangles the life out of creative arts...the colour...the vibe! Lauralee is THE consummate exception.  Not only did she allow our space to operate without objection, but she outright embraced our venture and supported us to no end.

Many artists who’ve performed at TONIGHT over the last 5 years have seen Lauralee quietly sit and enjoy their shows. She is an artist herself, but more notably, a genuine advocate for artists. We can attest that no one put more money into the performers tip buckets over the years than Lauralee.

Today we say thanks to her & illustrate that her role in our story is not a small one. Among many artistic endeavors, Lauralee has a cool band of her own called JO RYDER. If you realize how much love she’s shown to many of you Tonight Bar performers, perhaps you wish to reciprocate and check her out here:
