The Summerside Legion is working on a project for the Remembrance Day Campaign this year. We hope to get a lot of the publics support for this. The banners will be displayed on Water Street. If you want to recognize a Veteran in your family or know of a Veteran that you want to have put on a banner, please contact the Branch. Applications are here and ready to be picked up. They are fairly big and will look so nice to see our Veterans pictures displayed. It will have Veterans name, Service/Branch/Unit. Year they served.
Each banner is $80.00

I have been getting some requests from members and friends from the Branch that are living off Island that want to see the new monument we have received recently.
I did plan to make this post much sooner, so here it is-

40 mm Bofors Anti-aircraft Gun
This gun was fitted on the deck of HMCS Summerside, MM711
Kingston Class Coastal Defence Vessel
HMCS Summerside was commissioned on July 18th, 1999
HMCS Summerside was decommissioned on October 4th 2025

Bofors Naval Gun
Barrel Length: 2.4 meter Caliber: 40 mm
Rate of fire: 80-90 rpm Rounds per minute (practical)
Range: 9,980 meter

The display of the city name sake Deck Gun was made possible through the generosity of the The City of Summerside
