Big Ben's opened on February 16th, 1972, and has been a family owned business since it's origination

Although Ben's began primarily as a student bar, it has since evolved into a unique gathering place. There are weekly events such as Karaoke, student parties, fundraisers, sports team post-game drinks, anniversary/birthday/retirement celebrations and most importantly the daily happy hour from 4pm-7pm. Monday nights: Martini Monday :-) Enjoy a selection of martini's off our drink menu for only $8.75

Tuesday nights: Thunder Mug Tuesday! Enjoy a 32oz mug of Coor's or Canadian for only $8.75

Thursday nights: Student night with Mike hosting Karaoke

Friday: Happy Hour from 4-7pm

We have 14 different brands on tap & a great selection of local beers. Great atmosphere for a quiet pint during the daytime or a group gathering at night. There are several tv's, including a big screen, which provide ample coverage for sports, entertainment, and the daily news. We sponsor many teams & encourage more to reach out to us. 🥹 *cue the tears alert* 🚨Everyone knows how sentimental I am, everyone knows how much the history & Cook family means to me - well what many of you didn’t know is that over the past few months I’ve had this beautiful girl working alongside me. It’s come full circle - Meet Katherine Kerr, the great granddaughter of Lewis Cook 💗 I’ve mostly held this secret in while bursting from the seams knowing I have a little bit of what started it all back in the family 🥲

Since working with the Cook family I’ve had the opportunity to watch Katherine grow up but never truly getting to know her until now. Over the past few months she’s displayed such a fun loving personality, a beautiful spirit, a work ethic that her family is very proud of & above all such a big heart 🥹 She’s actually kinda soft like me, she’s not afraid of hugs & she makes sure those around her knows she loves them & that they have a friend in her 💗

I’ve had many moments over the past few months where I’ve watched with pride, seeing her genuinely loving the beautiful Ben’s spirit - that same energy three generations before her had 💓 It’s truly meant the world to me to have this connection. Having the love, support & involvement of the original family means so much to me. Preserving the memories, while making new ones means so much to me. The past, the present, the future means so much to me - this pub & the people mean everything to me 🥹

💓 So as Katherine approaches her last shift this evening (for now) & moves on to pursue nursing away, I want her to know that this door is always open for her. She’s gained a family of friends & it’s been such a joy having her here. Kat, I love you & this pub will always be a place you can call home 🫶🏻 xo

💫💗 Before & After a great performance by Tony Denney this past Saturday where he shared his love for music through his original tunes. Tony took to the stage for one hour & performed beautifully to a listening audience at the front of my pub.

Tony & his wife Elouise moved from Alberta, back to NL for Tony after many years being away. I first met Tony through coming to Sunday Jams & participating in open mic sessions. They both became friends & like family to all those around them. He is well known for playing all the old tunes, many of which I have never heard before, however the older patrons sing along gleefully! 🥰 His excitement of music & sharing his gift of song with those around him is such a beautiful thing to see 💞

💫💗 Thank you Tony for sharing a little piece of you through your original music, something many performers don’t get the chance to do very often. I could easily see the “glow up” from beginning to end, how your heart felt full & filled with happiness. This is the reason we are doing this one hour showcase. Keep singing your heart out Tony & sharing your gift of music, like your Dad first did, with all those around you. Our Sunday jams are a little brighter when you are in them 🌟 You can also find Tony performing around town with his partner David Anderson in the duo The Gaslighters. Keep shining, keep singing, keep sharing those awesome originals - as every song was once an original & yours are beautiful 💫🫶🏻

💃🏼 is coming in hot!! 💃🏼 We have so much happening that my heart is exploding with excitement!!! 🤩 I’m even going to be learning a couple new games myself. 🩷 is happening again at 7:30pm this evening & I couldn’t be more excited for it 🥰 There is one thing I love to do & that’s make beautiful memories with all of you.
