Sasktachean's MLA's and SLGA officials made this big announcement 20 years ago that they would work together with Manitoba, who also started charity poker at the same time as here. Instead, there was no communication, Manitoba updated their rules and regulations dozens of times, their inspectors actualy undertand poker. Saskatchen did not, changed nothing, left the max prize pool at $5k, turned a blind eye to any suggestions to improve the regulations to allow it to thrive, and were almost insulted when asked to consider changes. In this single game, Manitoba did twice as much business in one game than Saskatchewan did in 2 years with this $40k prize pool.

in other news, I have learned this is worth a million times more than my supplier agreement with SLGA.

🎰 Season 57: Cash Goes Up, Down… and All the Way to the Top!

Season 57 is officially underway, and what a way to open the season!

Kaisayla, better known around the table as “Cash,” had a night that could only be described as a poker yo-yo. Her chip stack went up… down… up again… and back down—all night long. But while the stack may have been riding the string, Cash never stopped fighting.

When the final hands were dealt, the yo-yo finally came to rest—with Cash sitting on top as our first Season 57 Champion! 🏆

Meanwhile, Dusten stepped in as our fill-in Tournament Manager, somehow managing to run the tournament and make a serious run at the title himself. He battled his way through the field and finished 2nd, proving that apparently you can manage the tournament and still have time to manage a pretty good poker stack!

So the first chapter of Season 57 is in the books:

🥇 Kaisayla “Cash” — Champion
🥈 Dusten — Runner-Up

Cash may have been riding the yo-yo all night, but when it mattered most, she pulled the string and brought it straight to the top!

Season 57 is off and running. New season. New battles. Same great poker crew. ♠️♥️♦️♣️

looks like have to wait another week for new season of poker to start, hope you all having a good August so far!

Greetings all, have to hold off poker again tonight as other commitments that get in life's way sometimes take priority, and no one sort of trained to run poker might be September before we resume. Which reminds me, should check with you all to see if there are people interested in running poker, taking care of the tables/chips on occasion, make a few bucks and of course, becoming everyone's favorite person when thy need a replay. Shoot me a note if so, otherwise will update when the new season is going to start asap!

🏆 Poker Stories – The Big Man Goes ALL-IN on Season 56!

Season 56 is officially in the books, and what a season it was!

The ladies of Maxem spent most of it showing the fellas exactly how poker is supposed to be played. Karen took the Points Championship, Gail was seemingly attached to the final table, and Alice quietly put together the best average finish of the entire season.

Alice's problem wasn't getting there.

She got there plenty.

It was convincing the poker gods to cooperate once she arrived.

And unfortunately, the Season Final was no exception.

Because sitting across the table was...

THE BIG MAN — TYLER!

Now there are different philosophies about tournament poker.

Some players study position.

Some calculate pot odds.

Some carefully manage risk.

And then there's Tyler.

Tyler's strategy can occasionally be summarized as:

"Well... let's see what happens!"

😂

Caution?

Optional.

Seatbelt?

Unnecessary.

Brakes?

Apparently removed at the factory.

Tyler simply throws caution into the wind, puts the chips in motion and lets Lady Luck figure out the paperwork afterward.

And in the Season 56 Championship...

Lady Luck apparently had Tyler on speed dial.

While Alice once again played the kind of consistently strong poker that gave her the season's best average finish, when the critical cards hit the felt, Tyler's high-octane approach found another gear.

The cards came.

The chips followed.

And suddenly the Big Man had become the BIG CHAMPION.

That's poker.

Sometimes months of careful strategy get you all the way to the final showdown...

And then a big guy decides to throw the steering wheel out the window and somehow crosses the finish line first.

Congratulations to Tyler — our Season 56 Season Final Champion! 🏆

And congratulations to everyone for another fantastic Maxem season, with a special salute to the ladies who absolutely dominated the standings and final tables.

As for tonight...

For once, nobody has to worry about bad beats, miracle rivers or Tyler putting their tournament life in jeopardy.

🎣 NO POKER TONIGHT!

The fearless Maxem leadership has temporarily abandoned its responsibilities.

I'm on holidays... and GONE FISHING!

See everyone when I get back.

Until then, may the fish bite better than my cards did at that last final table. 😂🎣♠️♥️

🏆 Poker Stories – A Chip, A Chair... and a Whole Lot of Humble Pie

Poker has a funny way of keeping us humble.

As we gathered for the final game of the regular season, the points race couldn't have been tighter. Karen, Alice, Gail and LeeAnne had spent the entire season showing us fellas how it's done, but there was still one stubborn guy mathematically alive in the race...

Me.

Naturally, being the humble, modest fellow that I am...

I announced before the first card was dealt:

"Wouldn't it be unfortunate if I won tonight... and stole the points championship?"

The poker gods heard every word.

At first, they seemed to agree.

The cards were falling my way, the chips kept piling up, and by the time we reached the final table I had a mountain of chips that was larger than the rest of the table combined.

Standing in my way?

Karen...

With one lonely chip.

Dennis...

Who had just battled back from the B Side...

Also with one lonely chip.

This was it.

The comeback story was writing itself.

The Maxem Commissioner was about to complete the greatest "I told you so" in league history.

Then poker remembered its oldest saying.

"All you need is a chip... and a chair."

Apparently, Karen and Dennis got the memo.

I didn't.

From that moment on, I couldn't win a hand if my life depended on it.

Pocket pairs?

Gone.

Big slick?

Gone.

Monster hands?

Crushed.

The mountain became a hill.

The hill became a molehill.

The molehill became...

An empty chair.

Karen somehow turned one chip into the Season 56 Points Championship, proving that persistence beats panic every time.

Meanwhile Dennis took his own one-chip B Side comeback all the way to the tournament victory, completing one of the most improbable wins of the season.

So what did we learn?

Never celebrate too early.

Never underestimate a short stack.

And never, ever tempt the poker gods with a pre-game speech.

Congratulations to Karen, our Season 56 Points Champion, and to Dennis, who proved once again that all you really need is...

A chip... and a chair.

🎉 Tonight's Event

The regular season may be over...

But one battle remains!

Tonight is the Season Championship Ring Game!

Good luck to everyone chasing the ultimate prize.

May your big hands hold...

May your bluffs get through...

And may your chair stay occupied just a little longer than everyone else's! 🏆♠️♥️
