Anyone is invited and encouraged to speak uninterrupted for up to 2 minutes on any subject they want using whatever language they choose.
The point of this exercise is to allow people to not just express themselves, but also to be heard, which is need human beings require for mental health.
To that end, these are the rules set out to achieve the desired result:
The speaker has 2 minutes maximum per subject.
The speaker may not incite violence
Audience members may laugh or gasp, but may not boo, groan, applaud, cheer or shout out during another person's speech
Applause after each speaker is encouraged especially if you disagree with what has been said because we want to encourage freedom of expression
After each speech, Dez Reed will give his take on what his just been said by the speaker
Other speakers may use their two minutes as a rebuttal to what has already been discussed, or take the conversation in a different direction
No personal attacks or insults will be allowed, if you have a contrary opinion, you must make an argument on the issue. No ad hominens allowed
Any person who walks out during another person's speech or breaks the rules will forfeit their opportunity to participate as a speaker for the remainder of the night, but will be welcome to remain as an audience member.
Any person who forfeits their opportunity to speak on any particular night will be welcome to speak on future nights provided they follow the rules
Bathroom breaks do not count as walking out, smoke breaks should be taken between speakers while Dez Reed is giving his take on what has just been presented
No audio or video recording is permitted, except by the person speaking for their own purposes
No cell phone use or talking permitted during another's presentation
Cell phone use and talking is permitted only while Dez Reed is on stage
