Founded in 2001 by John Edward Hasse of the Smithsonian National Museum of American History, Jazz Appreciation Month celebrates the culture and achievements of the jazz music scene and its musicians, from which we draw inspiration and strength in trying times.

Be sure to show your appreciation and support for our fellow jazz musicians this month! Consider sending a thank-you message or sharing a fond memory of a performance or piece of music that moved you. Don't forget to directly support the artists by donating or purchasing their music too!

Hello Friends! Its been a long time since we've last reached out and now we are in another lock down. Oh well, you know where to get your wine, cause we are still open and drinkin' :)

If you find you have more time in your hands than you know what to do with, consider writing a little satire. You might be interested in a project my friend Don Sayer has been working on with some other folks. They are looking for contributors, so this is your chance to humorously take a stab at the broken system.

The SubStandard is a Niagara-specific satire blog and a last-ditch attempt to right the region's wrongs and reveal (are you appreciating the alliteration?) the dereliction of Niagara's community misleaders.

The SubStandard is not intended to criticize existing publications, but over the past year or so we have become aware of how barren the media landscape in our region has become, especially given the dramatic budget cuts to local papers. We are hoping the SubStandard will provide another outlet for ideas and concerns along with, hopefully, a little humour.
