We are rolling out the red carpet for your furry companions with plenty of delicious doggy snacks and treats from DIBS Scratch Bakery. Don't worry, we haven't forgotten the humans—we'll have great food and drinks available for owners to enjoy while the pups socialize! During the session, you will get an up-close look at a live hive while learning the essentials of bee behaviour and getting all your burning questions answered.

We had a great Saturday sharing the wonder of honeybees with our community! Bringing our observation hive to the Richmond Hill Blooms Garden Social was a highlight.

In this picture from that event, you can see the queen bee—marked with a blue dot—surrounded by a circle of devoted worker bees. These bees are called her retinue. They attend to her every need, grooming her, feeding her, and carrying her pheromones throughout the colony.

We spent a wonderful Saturday connecting with neighbours at the Richmond Hill Blooms Garden Social event! It was a joy to share our passion for honey and beekeeping with the local community. The highlight of our booth was definitely our observation hive, which gave visitors a unique opportunity to peek inside the world of bees and watch them up close. While our Bochet Blonde started out as a dry mead, time in the bottle is working its magic—it’s naturally pulling forward a tang with age.

What makes this batch special is the honey used: by gently heating and caramelizing the honey before fermentation, we infuse it with toasted sugar notes. The result is a balanced dry mead with a golden hue and a deep flavour profile.

The sunflower garden has reached its peak! Our sunflowers are in full bloom, with many of them over 5 feet tall and showing their vibrant golden petals.

What started as tiny seeds back in the spring transformed into a buzzing wall of colour. Watching them track the sun each day and draw in bees has been one of the highlights of the season. Great news—our 6-inch wooden honey dippers are officially back in stock! This tool's unique grooves are designed to hold honey as long as you keep slowly rotating the handle. This allows you to smoothly transport honey from the jar right over your mug of tea, toast, or yogurt without dripping along the way. We have been posting sunflower updates over the past several weeks, keeping everyone posted on how our sunflowers are doing. It's important to give thanks to our bees, who have been a vital part of our sunflower success. 🌻

Bees will generally stop pollinating and foraging in late October or early November. This is because the daily temperature drops, and the nectar supply in the area dries up around that time as well. Until then, bees will continue to forage and pollinate, and we will continue to give them a shoutout!
