"Soon afterwards, Tom’s work with pests and wine grapes would become invaluable".

A single moment can change everything. A perfect tune playing across some piano keys. A formula finally balancing after years of pondering. A misstep with a stranger on the street that ends in a love story. For Dr. Tom Lowery, a chance encounter led to one of the greatest discoveries of his career, one that wine lovers across the country are very grateful for.

Jeff Guignard , President & CEO, and Bobby Ercego, President , clarified that any future government meetings would be conducted collaboratively between both associations.

❓What is the timeline? WGBC is working to secure a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture and Food in early June to present the economic analysis and supporting findings.

➡️ and the share an interest in ensuring that the recovery framework supports both winery stability and long-term demand for BC-grown grapes. This matters because the current structure may influence:

• Confidence in future grape purchasing.
• Planning across vineyards and wineries.
• Employment and investment decisions; and
• Economic activity across the broader supply chain.

🍇A coordinated winery–grape grower perspective can help communicate the full recovery picture and support a practical path forward. All parties will convene another meeting in the next two weeks to share the results of our analysis directly with the industry.
