Beer Style – Munich Helles 🍺

Like Kananaskis Country Golf Club, this recipe is one hell of a Muni! ⛳️

Bad joke, our apologies, but that is one heck of a golf course—and this is one heck of a beer to enjoy after a round. Smooth, crisp, and easy-drinking, Munich Helles is a classic German lager that delivers subtle malt character and exceptional balance without demanding your full attention.

Nice and approachable, but with just enough depth of flavour to pique your interest and keep you coming back for another sip. 🌾🍺

Check out our blog post for the full recipe—available in both homebrew and commercial-scale versions. ⬇️

As always, Sarah McCambridge is the mastermind behind these recipes—you might even see one or two appear on the taplist Blindman Brewing🍻

A million-dollar rain. That’s how many Central Alberta farmers are describing the recent weather. Farmer John said he’s never seen the ground soak up inches of water so quickly. The rain has been a welcome sight across the region, soaking into fields and giving crops a timely boost as the growing season gets underway. 🙏

Malt of the Month – Caribou Malt 🦌

As May comes to a close, we’re shining a spotlight on a malt that doesn’t often need one: Caribou Malt.

Our Caribou Malt is a love-hate relationship. We hate to make it and you love to use it! Ok, it’s not actually that bad to make anymore, fortunately we’ve streamlined the process over the years, allowing us to keep this award-winning malt in regular production. 🙏

Our Caribou malt earned silver medals in the Caramel category at both the 2024 and 2026 MaltCup competitions 🥈🥈 and has found its way into numerous provincial and national award-winning beers.

Our website may show low inventory, but that’s usually because we rarely have more than half a pallet sitting in the warehouse. If you’re looking for some, reach out and we’ll let you know what’s on hand.

If you haven’t tried Caribou Malt yet, reach out and find out what you’ve been missing. 🍻

Outstanding in their field - Radium Brewing 🌾

After hearing a podcast highlighting the value and flavour craft malt brings to brewing, Steve reached out to us — and the rest, as they say, is history.

Radium Brewing has been a huge supporter of Red Shed, and we’re equally big fans of what they’re building. Their community — along with the many tourists passing through — clearly agrees.

Enjoying one of their brews on the spectacular patio, surrounded by mountain views, is about as close to paradise as it gets. And if you want to make a getaway of it, Parks Canada offers oTENTik accommodations at Redstreak Campground just across the highway.🍻🏔️✨

This Mental Health Month, we want to recognize the important work being done by Do More Agriculture Foundation 💚

Agriculture comes with long hours, pressure, uncertainty, and stress that can be hard to talk about — which is why organizations like Do More Ag matter so much.

They’ve created excellent resources, conversations, and support around mental health in the ag community, helping remind people that they don’t have to carry everything alone.

We’ll also be highlighting and sharing some of these great resources from The Do More Agriculture Foundation in hopes they help support more people in our ag community.

Seeding update 🌱

The peas, wheat, and barley are all in, and we’re down to the last fields of canola.

It’s been a beautiful stretch of weather for seeding, and the long days feel a little sweeter with the trees finally starting to bud and everything turning green again. There’s something pretty rewarding about watching another season come to life.

Happy Birthday to John 🎉

Usually, there’s nowhere he’d rather be on his birthday than out in the field during seeding season.

After a busy stretch since seeding started in this perfect weather, today he took a well-earned rest day and got to celebrate Mother’s Day with family too.

Hope the day brought a little time to slow down, recharge, and enjoy the people who matter most before getting back at it. Here’s to another great year ahead and a safe, successful seeding season 🌱🚜

Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who helped build this dream from day one ❤️

When we started this business, it wasn’t just about malt — it was about building something together as a family. A family business had always been our mom’s dream and today, she’s at the heart of everything we do.

Susie is the master of logistics and finance behind the scenes. She’s saving brew days by making sure malt arrives on time, finding better freight rates for customers without ever needing a broker, and keeping track of everything from bookkeeping to accounts receivable and payable.

She keeps this place running smoothly and keeps all of us organized — even during the busiest seasons.

We’re proud to do this alongside you, Mom. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️
