I first met Mama Dina in 1991. She is the mother of Tasso, Jimmy, and Louis Sotiropolous. We were a small crew of kids headed to a camping trip and we stopped at Tasso’s house to pick up a sleeping bag. Tasso was just going to run into the house and grab his things. He was inside for a few minutes before he came out and announced that his Mom wanted us to come in. We didn’t know why, but we went in anyway. It was because she wanted to feed us. Mama always showed her love by cooking for people and you tasted the love in her food. She loved cooking and she loved seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they ate. She took her passion for the restaurant business and her sons’ same passion to open the first Broadway Bar and Grill location in Barrhaven in 1992. Mama Dina brought her recipes (Most famously, BROADWAY’S SECRET HOMEFRY RECIPE!), her work ethic, and her love for cooking to the people of Barrhaven. There are now 7 locations that wouldn’t be here without her. When we opened our location in 2002, Mama Dina was there for the entire week before we opened so she could do prep work, clean, and anything else that we needed before we even knew that we needed it. She just wanted to help as was her nature. I wouldn’t be where I am without her. There are hundreds of people that have worked at our location over the years that we never would have met if not for Mama Dina. There are an innumerable amount of people that would never have had Mama’s homefries. We miss you so much! We will continue to cook food that you would be proud of ❤️
