LIVE! on Elgin is the culmination of two years of discussions, debates, questionnaires, and polls all focu

sed on the future of live theatre and music in Ottawa. A simple discussion about types of venues in use elsewhere led us to believe that there was something missing in the Ottawa market and we set out to create a venue that would fill that gap. Combining Lawrence’s experience in theatre and business with Jon’s experience and connections in the local music scene, and the passion that both of us share for local talent we think we have created the perfect space for you, audiences and performers alike. A space that can be used by musicians, actors, and performers of all kinds. A place where people can gather for a night of entertainment without breaking the bank. A place to focus on and promote local talent, where local artists can hone their craft and earn a few bucks without having to leave town. A place where small theatre companies can mount productions without risk of losing their shirts. A place for local filmmakers to screen their projects. A place for local artists of all stripes to call home. 11 years ago on this date we opened our doors on a grand adventure after 2 years of planning, wrangles with City officials over minor variances, run-ins with (we suspect) crooked building inspectors, with tons of last minute help from amazing friends who built furniture, painted, and helped put all the finishing touches in place, sans liquor license, to a sold out house for a show featuring The Balconies.
Over the past 11 years we have hosted live music events catering to all genres, Open Mic nights, dance parties, magic shows, improv shows, live theatre, drag shows, burlesque and boylesque shows, weddings, anniversary parties, Fringe shows, karaoke nights, trivia nights, Naked Boys Reading, and film festivals. We are proud to call ourselves THE home for LIVE entertainment in Ottawa. Safe, inclusive, proud supporters of our 2SLGBTQI+ community and friends.
Happy 11 years to US, Happy Pride Month, and many many thanks to all of you who have dropped in for a show, or a whole bunch of shows. Many thanks to all of the wonderful staff members who have helped us along the way. See less
