Welcome to Ollie's! Ollie's first operated as a cafeteria when the students' association moved into the new University Centre building in 1971. Student council obtained a liquor license for pub nights at the cafeteria, and the bar was simply called The Pub. In the fall of 1971, some councillors tried to change the bar's name to "The Beerhall." The motion was amended to rename it "The Belch" and th
is motion carried. Fortunately, two weeks later, council rescinded the motion and the bar continued to be known as "The Pub." In the early 1980s, The Pub was renamed "Oliver's" in recognition of retiring university President Michael Oliver. Ollie’s is student owned and operated by the Carleton University Students’ Association. It has been a social focal point for Carleton University Students for over 30 years. Other CUSA businesses include Rooster’s and Haven (located off campus at Sunnyside & Seneca). All three businesses supply jobs for Carleton University undergraduate students. CUSA is an incorporated non-profit, student run organization. Every Carleton undergraduate student is a member of CUSA, and is encouraged to take advantage of the many benefits CUSA has to offer.
