It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Constantina Sotiropoulos, the founder and the soul of Broadway.

If you’ve ever eaten at Broadway, you know Mama Dina’s cooking. Those famous homefries are her recipe, and without her leadership and determination, we would not be here to serve them today.

She was born in Greece, and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1965. She worked hard in the industry and in May of 1992, she founded the first Broadway with her sons, who still work in the business today.

She was an exceptionally welcoming and loving person. To survive in this industry for three decades is rare. To thrive in it, to create a warm environment that’s given a home to hundreds of employees, and served hundreds of thousands of people all through Ottawa: that is one of a kind. And that is Mama Dina.

Rest in peace. We’ll do our best to live up to your example.
