Starting tomorrow, every Sunday we will have live piano music by Xander at 5pm! 🎶

Xander has been playing the acoustic piano at Happy Goat Coffee Co. for over 6 years, so we're very excited to welcome him back! 🎼

Xander is a musician who plays many different styles of original music: minimalist piano compositions inspired by Arvo Pärt, singer/songwriter love songs and the holy trinity of reggae/ska/rocksteady.

Come join us, everybody is welcome, especially families with kids during witching hour! 😊

It's time for us to introduce ourselves! Storytime ✍️

Originally from Ukraine 🇺🇦 Andriy and Sveta are a local entrepreneur power couple. In the middle of this war in their home country, they wanted to do something to help. The perfect opportunity suddenly presented itself, materializing out of thin air, drive, and a little bit of luck.

And it all starts with Happy Goat ☕️ Andriy has long favoured the OG Laurel roastery to work from. One time, only a few weeks ago, he was sitting at the bar counter inside the coffee shop with his wife, thinking “Why doesn’t this bar work?”

Happy Goat suspended operations of the bar due to Covid in 2020 and warmly welcomed Andriy’s idea to have the bar reopen 🍷

Andriy brought the idea to his long-time friend and business partner, Jignesh, and as in many other ventures, they decided to handle this exciting opportunity together! 🙏

All the bar needed was a skilled person behind the counter. Through a helpful community group on Facebook, the entrepreneurs found Anna, a Ukrainian refugee 🇺🇦 who had just come to Canada two months ago and already had 3 years of bartending experience.

The next day, Andriy called the Happy Goat Team and said, “We are doing it.” And so, the SWASO bar was born. SWASO stands for Selected Wines and Spirits of Ontario. This new bar, now fully managed and open every night inside Happy Goat, also has a mini wine shop, retailing bottles of exclusive Central Asian and European wines not available at LCBO (think Moldovia & Croatia for their wines and Georgia & Armenia for their world-class brandy) 🥃

The bar gives new life to one of Ottawa’s favourite small venues and it is now available for evening events, from local band gigs to touring group concerts 🎶 Movie nights, open mic nights, and community events are to come for both the Ukrainian diaspora in Ottawa AND the local Hintonburg community📍Come for a coffee, stay for a drink. Leveraging the local business, Swaso implemented low markup, creating the best happy hour deals in the city, where every hour is happy hour.
