✨Join us this Saturday, October 10 for the opening night of Sheila Lockhart art exhibit ft. music by Jade Bridger ✨

Sheila Lockhart is a longtime Nelson resident and alumni of Kootenay School of Art. Inspired by the mystical lakes and mountains of the Kootenays, Sheila’s intuitive methods guide her creations, and her spontaneous use of colour breathes fresh life into our beloved landscapes.

“Red Light is a perfect social space to share my work and I love the lighting. I’ve spent many evenings here enjoying the ramen, as well!”

We thank Sheila for sharing her works with us and invite you to come by Saturday, and throughout the month, to check them out! Available for purchase at the till.

Autumn is officially here, and Red Light is ready for cozy season. We’ve put together a packed October calendar to keep you well-fed and entertained with a full month of local art, natural w**e, and weekend music. Come settle in and spend some time with us inside.

We’re excited to feature local artist Sheila Lockhart on our walls all through October! Catch the opening on October 10th with music by Jdlayd from 6–9 PM.

We’ve also got some incredible new w**es hitting the shelves, so we’re celebrating with a tasting night on October 16th with tunes by Emerencz. It’s the perfect chance to sample a bunch of our choice selections in one go and find your new favorite.

AND, we have two very special events toward the end of the month. On October 29th, Phantasy & Splendor are making the trip all the way down from the Yukon for a rare, one-off night. Then on October 30th, Emrrld is taking over for a special set to kick off Halloween weekend all the way from Vancouver.

It’s a stacked month top to bottom, so come pull up a seat and get cozy!

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation — a day marked for Indigenous peoples and communities whose lives were harmed or lost through Residential Schools and other forms of colonization.

Red Light exists on unceded Sinixt territory. Follow The Autonomous Sinixt and Blood of Life Collective to see how you can support the Autonomous Sinixt, through donations and other forms of contribution.

Today, and throughout the year, we are inquiring what more we can do as settlers to honour Indigenous lives and repair the ongoing harm done to generations of families whose ancestors have been here for time immemorial.

When resources continue to be forcibly extracted from stolen land, when cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQIA+ peoples continue to go unanswered, when systemic discrimination against Indigenous peoples still exists in institutions across the country, are we honouring and protecting Indigenous lives?

Our government has fallen far short on their commitment to move towards reconciliation and implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action. We invite you to hold them accountable, today and all year. Make it known that Indigenous lives and justice matter to you, and vote for candidates who vow to uphold Indigenous rights and sovereignty in our upcoming municipal and provincial elections, October 17 and 24.

Closer to home, you can support local businesses and suppliers who respect the land with minimal impact.

The seasons are changing and so are our w**e offerings!🍷

Our general manager Carly Parkin has carefully curated our Autumn w**e list with heart and taste.

All our new w**es are sourced from the Okanagan to support vineyards affected by and in close proximity to the devastating wildfires in Summerland last month.

“Climate change makes grapes harder to grow, and small local producers feel it the most. Many are stewards of the land who let nature take the wheel, and their low intervention style gives the w**es such an exciting, dynamic taste that changes every vintage.”

**e

Carly’s top picks on the list?

“It’s hard to pick just one, but right now my two are the Chateau Marmot Malbec, which is so approachable and juicy, and the Pamplemousse Jus Rosé, which is an amazing accompaniment for our Bao Buns, Peanut-Lime Soba Noodles, and dessert.”

Pamplemousse Jus 2025 Rosé

Off-dry with flavours of red berries and light florals, this rosé pairs well with our Bao Buns, Peanut-Lime Soba Noodles, and Brown Butter Almond Cake.
🌸

Keenan Thrussell (Château Marmot) 2025 Malbec

Light bodied with flavours of red berries and dark fruit, pair this Malbec with our Bao Buns, Dan Dan Noodles, Tantan Pork or Chicken Ramen, or Kale Caesar Salad.
🍓

Rigour & Whimsy 2022 Return to the Beginning Chardonnay

This full-bodied Chardonnay could pass as an off-dry Riesling and pairs excellently with our Miso or Tantan
Pork Ramens.
🍍

Pamplemousse Jus 2025 Table White

Dry with flavours of juicy stone fruit and bright citrus, pair this wild fermented blend with our Tabitha Salad, Chilli-Crisp Soba Noodles, Miso Squash Ramen, or Dan Dan Noodles.
🍋

Keenan Thrussell (Château Marmot) 2025 Carbonic Pinot Gris

This bright skin contact bottle pairs wonderfully with our Peanut-Lime Soba Noodles or Miso Squash Ramen.
