One year ago today, we signed for and took the keys to this pub and began an incredible journey. Looking back, we're overwhelmed with gratitude for every person who has walked through our doors, shared a drink, celebrated a milestone, watched a game, enjoyed a meal, or simply made this place part of their routine.
Thank you for trusting us with your home away from home. The support, kindness, and loyalty you've shown over the past year have meant more than words can express.
A very special thank you also goes to my business partners, my sister Olivia Margaret and my dad Shawn Allen. While many of her contributions happen behind the scenes, this past year would not have been possible without Olivia's hard work, dedication, and countless hours spent making sure everything runs smoothly. This pub is stronger because of her, and I'm incredibly grateful to have her by my side.
A special shout out to my dad, my "BIC" Nate Ryan, and good friend Jim Emmons, for putting up with my insane requests and making all my dreams (sparkly walls included!) come true in the updates we've been making to the bar!
A huge thank you to the staff who have supported us, stepped up, and worked with us through the changes and hiccups of a change in leadership, various incidents, illnesses and injuries. Running this pub wouldn't be possible without you.
Thank you as well to my brother Josiah Allen for being one of my biggest cheerleaders and someone I can go to anytime for advice. It has meant so much to have your support. And to my sister Makaylie, who I can call on anytime to pick up the liquor order, or bring me a new shirt when I get bleach all over mine (shocking, I know). Thank you for being there and willing to help me out anytime.
This anniversary is also a time to remember Amy. Her love for this pub, her dedication to the people who filled it, and the community she helped build continue to inspire us every day. While she is deeply missed, her heart and spirit will forever remain within these walls and among the people who gather here. We are honoured to carry on a place that meant so much to her and to so many of you. We want to thank Jamie again for trusting us with this place, and this community.
I could go on all day, so instead, here's to Amy's legacy, to the community that makes this place special, and to many more years together.
Cheers! 🍻
