The Black Shire Pub

The Black Shire Pub London's Community Music Pub We are THE definition of pub life. Downstairs is an Irish pub setting, with a comfortable laid back feel.

Whether you are looking for an intimate night with a few friends or to meet new people, The Shire is consistently packed with the finest regulars and welcoming staff. With 17 taps, we’re sure to have the hops you love, the mild for the meek, and with a rotating tap and seasonal beers, something you’ve yet to try. We specialize in local craft beers because here at the black shire, the staff loves t

heir beer. Take it up to the next floor, and this is where we play host as one of London’s newest and finest venues. We cater mainly to local acts out of London, St. Catherines, Hamilton, Brantford and Toronto but reach out West and even to the states for some events. We have had everywhere from H***y Tonk, to hip hop nights, Single acoustics to full five piece bands. We even throw a magic show in here and there. We also do full reservations, parties and event nights if you’re looking for that perfect spot. Our patio is the place to be during the spring and summer. It’s a full sized, serviced, smoking patio surrounded by twinkling lights located just North of Dufferin and Talbot. We’ve even been known to set up some live shows on the patio. Come in for one, stay for a few, let us make you our newest regular.

You might be missing us right now, but not nearly as much as we are missing you.

The music is still alive and well in London. If you're looking for a place to take in local music, we recommend Rum Runners and Call The Office for all of your entertainment needs.

The Shire was home to many musicians, but no one performed here more often than our Wednesday night h***y tonkers, Hey Loretta! Like them on facebook to stay in touch and make sure to go see them at the Fox and Fiddle every Wednesday night beginning August 12th, 7-10pm. The Shire may be gone but our traditions live on!

With many years of being a pub, and many owners who have tried their way; The Shire, The Blackshire, & The Last Drop, have been a home and a watering hole for many of you lovely people. It is very depressing and upsetting to be saying this, but we have closed the doors for good.
The management team is very, very sorry, we weren't able to host a last week hurrah for everyone. Due to legal complications, the doors were shut sooner than we expected.

To all the bands, we thank you so much for blessing our stage (both upstairs and down) with your great talent. We have seen some great bands and solo acts throughout the years, and we wish you the best of luck on your road to success.

To the regulars, oh how you made the place glow. With such a diverse crowd ranging from 20 year olds to 60 year olds (Jerry), you guys made this place, a place people can call home. From the familiar faces to the familiar drinks, you all knew and loved each other. Thank you for your many (many) years of dedication. Hopefully one of you rent a condo in the new building and we can come drink there this time!

Last but sure as hell not least, the staff. Whether you're a promoter, server, bartender, security, sound guy or kitchen, you guys were the god damn backbone to this place. You were the face and personality of the bar, and you did a great job doing it!! You knew the regulars better than you knew your own families, & you loved the bands just as much as a crazed fan. You worked long hours, covered each others asses, and gave the boss a receding hairline. But we love you and always will.

So thanks to all of you throughout the years, who have made this place the place to be. The Shire personally thanks each and everyone of you, don't let this be an end to a great group of people. Keep in contact with each other, and party on!

Long Live The Shire!
