So… after introducing Saskatchewan to Red Tortoise Cake, we learned that Canadians have some very strong opinions about dessert 😅

That’s where Strawberry Mochi comes in.

Made with strawberry sticky rice dough and fresh strawberry filling, this dessert takes time, patience, and a surprising number of steps to create.

It’s soft, chewy, fruity, and a little more familiar to the Canadian palate while still being inspired by the flavours and traditions of Taiwan 🇹🇼

Now served alongside our Red Tortoise Cake on the Taiwanese Tasting Menu.

Book your table through the link in our bio.

Meet the most controversial dish on our Taiwanese menu 😅

Some guests love it. Some guests are… confused by it.

This is Red Tortoise Cake - a traditional Taiwanese dessert with a chewy texture that isn’t exactly what most Canadians expect when someone says “dessert.”

But whether you love it or question all your life choices after the first bite, you’re experiencing a piece of Taiwanese culture 🇹🇼

It’s now served family-style, making it easier for everyone at the table to try a bite and share the experience.

And honestly, that’s the whole point.

A little team field trip outside the restaurant and a very good reason to hit the road!

We spent the day at Bud’s BBQ in Ogema and had such a great time together outside of the usual Trigo routine. It’s always nice to step away from work, spend time as a team, share some laughs, and enjoy a day together.

The food was incredible, the hospitality was amazing, and a big thank you to Julie, Peyton, and Mark for taking such great care of us.

If you haven’t been to Bud’s BBQ yet, go. Seriously. It’s absolutely worth the trip for some of the best BBQ around.

Thanks for having us!

Not all pepper is created equal. Here’s why Kampot is in a category of its own.

Chef Adam brought these back from Cambodia. We use them exclusively at Trigo and now you can take them home.
Available in Black, Red, White and a Mixed Grinder - each one ready to use, right out of the grinder. And if you’d like more, we also carry them in 200g packs for those who don’t want to run out anytime soon.

Find them at our Take Away & Market Menu - link in bio.

Hosting Grade 1 & 2 from Lafleche Central School once again, but this time for a journey to Taiwan 🇹🇼

The students had a chance to meet Ivy, a well-known Taiwanese chef and Adam’s teacher, attended by video from Taipei. Thank you, Ivy, for being part of this experience and for sharing your knowledge and stories with us.

We began with a tea ceremony, tried the famous Gua Bao, enjoyed grapeade, and finished with pineapple cake.

We’re so happy to be part of another learning experience for the kids and bring a little piece of Taiwan to Lafleche.
