Our Story

The Algonquin Theatre officially opened its doors on May 14, 2005 to a full house of Theatre supporters. The Algonquin Theatre is part of the Huntsville Civic Centre, in the heart of downtown Huntsville. The Algonquin Theatre has been host to a wide variety of plays, musical performances, meetings, videos, presentations and school groups. The theatre has offered outstanding performances from comedians to orchestras, from elementary school plays to musicians of international acclaim. As you stroll along the Historic streets of downtown Huntsville you will have the opportunity to view the breathtaking bronze statue of Tom Thomson, created by local sculptor Brenda Wainman-Goulet. This is a piece of history incorporated within the Civic Square illustrating the Town's motto "touch the past, embrace the future". The space is for the many and not for the few. The theatre strives to be the venue of

Due to the potential for thunderstorms this evening, we have made the difficult decision to cancel tonight’s Concerts on the Dock performance.

We would like to sincerely thank all of our guests, performers, volunteers for making this season such a fantastic success. Your support and enthusiasm have helped create another memorable summer of music on the waterfront.
