Treble Hall

Treble Hall Treble Hall is an arts/ performance space located in Hamilton, Ontario. After nearly 60 years of abandonment, Historia Building Restoration bought the building.

Currently Treble Hall is in the process of a slow, deliberate restoration using a de-construction technique in order to preserve the history and beauty while making it structurally sound with contemporary design additions. Designed by James Balfour and constructed in 1879, the building has had multiple usage including a dance hall (Hamilton's first cake walk happened here), place of worship, comme

rcial space and eventually residential until being neglected. Since claiming ownership, Historia has created a musem out of the lost artifacts found between the floor boards and hidden away in the once dark corners of 'the Hall'. School groups and members of the public were invited in to see the relics and study them. Historia has also thrown events in the newly renovated Pagoda Lounge (above the Pagoda Chop Suey House in the attached building) and working with artists within the community, provide a great outlet for artistic expression. A mural will be painted on the end wall of the building this summer and more projects are in the works for the future. The resurgance of the spirit of Hamilton can be reflected on the outside of the building: freshly painted, new windows, a brighter and more welcoming street. Treble Hall is very proud to be part of the changes in Hamilton - culturally, aesthetically and economically. Check back on our Page for updates on the restoration as well as details on upcoming events and art happenings.
