Our Story

Originally constructed in 1891, The Cellar is the oldest building at Mohawk’s Fennell Campus. It was built as a root cellar to store a variety of produce grown as part of the farming operations for the Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital. Since then, the space has had many functions dedicated to student life, and eventually evolved into a campus pub.

Today, The Cellar stays true to its roots in fresh, local food by providing Mohawk’s students with high quality meals in a unique, historical setting. The Cellar is part of Hamilton’s history and, now – it’s part of your history, too.
