Filipino Restaurant in Halifax | Filipino Food

Sit down to a Filipino meal and you'll often find little dishes of sauce beside your plate. This is sawsawan, the personal dipping sauces that let everyone season their food exactly how they like it. A splash of vinegar, a bit of soy and calamansi, a spoonful of fish sauce, maybe some crushed chilli for heat.

Late-night food in Halifax depends entirely on which night you mean.

Friday and Saturday we go until 11 PM. Tuesday through Thursday we close at 9. Sunday is brunch only. Monday we are closed.

So "after 10" is not one answer. Our new guide sorts it out.

Tuesday between classes or right after them is a good window to grab a table at Barrios. Taco Tuesday is built for exactly that kind of night, easy to plan, easy on the group, and close enough to campus that it doesn't take much to get here. Bring your study group or just the people you'd rather be with instead of studying.

Split the bill, split the tacos, and head back to the books a bit lighter. Order a few to share and take a real break before getting back to it.

Running a Filipino restaurant in downtown Halifax has meant a lot of long days, but the kind that are worth it because of the people who keep showing up. That's you.

We started Barrios Kitchen & Bar to share honest food made by Filipino chefs, cooked the way it's cooked at home. Every table we fill, every regular who walks in and doesn't need to look at a menu, every new guest who trusts us with a first try, that's what keeps this place going.
