While I’m at home and not hosting trivia, unlike most Wednesdays, I want to share what was my personal Terrace highlight from an incredible August month. It just so happened to take place on the very first day!
On August 1st we held the Resilience Charity Golf Tournament, first at the GFGC and then at The Terrace. This year our fundraising efforts were focused towards the family of Alex Dawe, who tragically left us just a couple weeks prior.
It was a lovely day, especially with so many of Alex’s friends and family in attendance. One of those being his classmate, teammate, fellow graduate, and good friend Grayson Bowne.
I had heard Grayson was talented. I coached him in soccer as well and knew above all he was a good kid. I’d seen videos of him singing at Kiwanis, maybe elsewhere also. Either way, nothing could’ve prepared me for when took the stage at the pub. Truly unbelievable.
We’ve had lots of talent come through this bar — like a lot — and Grayson’s performance was up there with the best of them! Belting out songs HE DIDN’T EVEN KNOW (big shoutout to Rob Canning for guiding him along) in front of a literally packed lounge full of friends, family, and plenty of strangers. Absolutely killed it. Don’t Look Back In Anger, Brown Eyed Girl, In Spite Of Ourselves, Sweet Caroline — it’s honestly hard to pick a favourite! He had the whole crowd singing and dancing along with him, and it made for an atmosphere that was nothing short of magic.
I now hear that he has a band, and I also heard a Zach Bryan cover of his yesterday that you could honestly believe that he had written himself. I’ll have to post that clip in the comments and on our story. It’s so, so good.
Grayson, if you’re seeing this, it’s time to get you booked in for a first “official” Terrace gig! Thanksgiving weekend has a nice feel to it…we will definitely have a chat very soon! We hope you enjoyed that day as much as we did!!! 😊
Not the best pics, because I was too into the music!
See You at The Terrace (hopefully ASAP) 🎶
