There is exactly one reason I leave the farm on a Sunday: puppies.

Okay… puppies, yoga, Elliott Tree Farm, Derek, and hanging out with my kid.

I can confirm that I am now covered in fur, drool, and happiness.

Please don’t tell Gordie I was fraternizing with other animals. He already thinks he’s underappreciated around here, and I don’t need that kind of drama in my life.

The good news? I got my puppy sniffs in.
The bad news? I may now need one. Or four.

10/10 Sunday.
Would abandon farm duties again.

Ps. Freshen up makes a perfect yoga mat companion!

Call us old-fashioned, but we think the best things in life are enjoyed a little slower.

You know what we don’t want?

A line-up for lavender.

Or a crowd in your sunflower photos.

Or having to politely wait while 37 people take the exact same selfie.

That’s why we only allow 30 guests per day for our Sip, Savour + Stroll experience.

Could we sell more tickets? Probably.

Do we want to? Not really.

We’d rather give you room to wander, room to breathe, room to hear the bees buzzing, and room to enjoy your delish tea or latte without accidentally making eye contact with half of Ontario.

Call us old-fashioned, but we think lavender and sunflowers are best experienced slowly.

So while everyone else is trying to squeeze more people in, we’re keeping things a little more intimate, a little more relaxed, and a whole lot more enjoyable.

30 guests.
250 acres.
8,000 lavender plants.
400,000 sunflowers.

Apparently, limiting guests, growing 8,000 lavender plants, planting 400,000 sunflowers, and refusing to turn our farm into a theme park has caught some attention.

Travel and Tour World recently featured Hereward Farms and our slightly rebellious approach to tourism: fewer people, more room to breathe.

Only a limited number of guests visit each day because we believe lavender is best enjoyed with birds chirping, bees buzzing, and enough space to take a photo without accidentally capturing 47 strangers.

Imagine that.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our little farm in East Garafraxa. We can’t wait to welcome you this summer.

🚨 The lavender plugs have landed. 🚨

They may be small, but don’t let their size fool you. These little overachievers are basically lavender with a growth mindset.

Fresh from our friends at Jolly Farmer, these healthy, happy plants are the same varieties we trust in our own fields. If they don’t meet our standards, they don’t make the cut. Simple as that.

Available now:

🌿 Hidcote
🌿 Munstead
🌿 Phenomenal

And yes, they’re tiny right now. So was Gordie once. Look how that turned out.

Pricing:
💜 $4 each
💜 3 for $10
💜 7 for $20

They tend to disappear faster than free samples and good intentions, so don’t wait too long.

Available at Hereward Farms while quantities last. 🌱

What does planting 2,000 lavender plants look like?

It looks a little bit like organized chaos.

It takes a team. It takes a village. It takes family, staff, Gordie and at least one person questioning our life choices halfway through.

But with demand growing for our dried lavender, products, and everything in between, 2,000 new lavender plants are officially going into the ground.

That brings us to nearly 8,000 lavender plants on the farm.

So if you’ve ever wondered what “from our soil to your soul” looks like, it’s this: a whole lot of hands, a whole lot of dirt, and 2,000 tiny plants that will eventually become the products you know and love.

Now if you’ll excuse us, we have approximately 2,000 plants to water. 🌱💜

Our heartfelt thanks go out to the local businesses whose support strengthens everything we do. They are the heart of our community, and their contributions to our fundraising efforts ensure we can continue giving back where it’s needed most. Over the next few days, we will be featuring the generous donors who helped make our Fashion Show possible. We are all so fortunate to have them in our community!
We’re also delighted to welcome Hereward Farms as a first‑time sponsor. A special thank‑you to owner Julie, who generously contributed a wonderful assortment of their lavender products. One of our attendees went home with an incredible prize thanks to her kindness.

I have officially issued Mr. Lavender a permit.

Not because he asked.

Because I showed up with 2,000 new lavender plants and informed him that we were planting them.

Details matter.

For those keeping track, we already have 6,000 lavender plants. Apparently, I looked at that number and thought, “Cute. But what if we had more?”

Mr. Lavender’s role in this operation was mostly to accept the permit, grab a shovel, and pretend this was a joint decision.

To be fair, he didn’t put up much of a fight.

So here we are, adding another 2,000 plants and bringing the grand total to 8,000 lavender plants.

At this point, I’m not sure if we’re growing lavender or if the lavender is slowly taking over the farm.

Either way, Mr. Lavender has his permit.

And by permit, I mean a wife with a vision and a truck full of plants. 💜🌱🤣
