A group of local citizens keen to promote tourism formed the Klondike Visitors' Association in the late 1950s. Recognizing that gambling was a major part of Dawson’s Gold Rush history, the association obtained a special gambling license from the Canadian Government and in the early 1970s began running casino nights on the dry-docked S.S. In 1971, after bringing in a consultant from Las Vegas, Diamond Tooth Gerties opened replete with can can dancers, games of chance and a bar. Slot machines were added later, but Gerties has managed to recreate the saloon days of 1898. Complete with casino games, nostalgic tunes, and three different cancan-inspired shows, it will be a night on the town that you won’t soon forget! Lucky summer visitors will be hosted by Diamond Tooth Gertie herself, who will blow you away with her powerhouse vocals and cheeky conversation. If that’s not enough, the high-kicking antics of her “Gold Rush Girls” will have you dancing in your seats. No visit to Dawson is complete without a trip to Diamond Tooth Gerties!
