013 , by the great folks who started and still own the Bedford location (Michael and Pamela Casey) and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Michael and Pamela sold the Portland Hill's location in November 2019 to Andrew Goodwin, a loyal patron of the Portland Hill's location. Since the ownership change, we have been building upon the success and great brand created by the original owners and adding exciting new elements, like top quality live music and new cocktail options, while maintaining the same sense of community that our patrons have come to expect in the Dartmouth and Bedford locations and the response has been terrific. We’re meeting new friends every day and having a great time in general. We wouldn’t be in this business if we didn’t enjoy people so please introduce yourself on your next visit, we’d love to meet you.

Our Story

We, Michael and Pamela Casey, took over Finbar’s Irish Pub in Bedford in October of 2004. The business had some challenges, to say the least, but we saw a lot of potential and we knew with a little luck, a few good people, and a lot of hard work we could really do something special.

We wanted to create a place that was friendly and inviting, a neighbourhood pub that offers fantastic food, great service and a feeling of familiarity and comfort for everyone. The community of Bedford and the surrounding area has been incredibly supportive and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank our loyal patrons for helping us so much over the years.

In June 2013 we opened our second Finbar’s in Portland Hills, Dartmouth, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! Our amazing staff have created the same sense of community that our patrons have come to expect in Bedford and the place feels great. In November 2019, Pamela and I sold the Portland Hills location to one of our most loyal regulars and we’re excited to have a terrific new partner to work with to grow the Finbar’s family of pubs.

Finbar’s is our baby, we live it every day and we love it. We even got engaged kneeling on the bar in front of all our friends and patrons.
