For someone who stands up for the first time and finds the courage to speak during one of our Table Topics, receiving one of these ribbons can mean everything.

It represents a fear faced.
A voice discovered.
A moment of growth.
And the realization: “I can do this.”

At Triple C Toastmasters, we celebrate every step forward, whether you speak for one minute or deliver your fiftieth speech.

Join us every Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in the Craft Room at the Lewis Centre in Courtenay.

Your hands often speak before your words do.

Open, natural gestures can communicate confidence, trust, and connection. Clenched, hidden, or restless hands may suggest tension or uncertainty.

The goal is not to choreograph every movement, but to become aware of what your body is communicating. When your hands and words align, people do more than hear your message. They feel its authenticity.

Join us at Triple C Toastmasters every Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.

One of the most common pieces of public speaking advice is:

"Just imagine the audience in their underwear."

It may be the most famous tip ever given, but it's also one of the least helpful.

It assumes the audience is something to fear. It suggests that confidence comes from making the people listening to you seem smaller or more vulnerable.

The reality is very different.

Most audiences want you to succeed. They want to hear your story. They want to learn something. They're not waiting for you to fail.

Instead of focusing on the one person with a serious expression, look for the people who are smiling, nodding, or making eye contact. Connect with them. Their encouragement will help you settle into your message and remind you that you're among people who are rooting for you.

One of the greatest privileges I've had over the past decade as a Toastmasters member is watching people walk through the door terrified of speaking in front of others. Many arrived convinced they could never become confident speakers.

Then something remarkable happened.

Week after week, speech after speech, evaluation after evaluation, they improved. Over time, those same individuals became engaging, confident communicators capable of inspiring audiences of any size.

There was no magic trick.

There was no shortcut.

There was simply consistent practice in a supportive environment where everyone wanted them to succeed.

That's what Toastmasters does. It doesn't just help you become a better speaker. It helps you become a more confident version of yourself.

If you've ever wanted to improve your communication, leadership, or confidence, come visit a Toastmasters club. You might be surprised by what you're capable of becoming.

Your voice matters more than you think.

One of the greatest fears people have is speaking in front of others. Yet the ability to communicate with confidence can change the course of your career, strengthen your leadership, and help you build meaningful relationships.

The good news is that confident speakers are rarely born that way. They develop through practice, encouragement, and constructive feedback.

That's exactly what Toastmasters provides.

Whether you're preparing for presentations, interviews, leadership roles, or simply want to become more comfortable expressing your ideas, you'll find a welcoming environment where everyone is working to become a better communicator.

If you've ever thought, "Maybe I should give it a try," this is your invitation.

Think on your feet. Speak with confidence.

Have you ever been asked a question in a meeting and wished you had a better answer?

Or found yourself searching for the right words during a job interview, presentation, or everyday conversation?

That's exactly what Table Topics helps you develop.

Each week at Triple C Toastmasters, you'll be given a surprise topic and just one to two minutes to organize your thoughts and speak. There are no prepared speeches, no scripts, and no expectation of perfection. Just a supportive environment where you'll learn to think clearly, communicate confidently, and become more comfortable speaking in front of others.

Table Topics helps you:
• Think quickly under pressure
• Organize your thoughts on the spot
• Build confidence in speaking
• Improve interview and meeting skills
• Become a stronger communicator and leader

Whether you're looking to grow professionally, become more confident personally, or simply challenge yourself in a welcoming environment, we'd love to have you join us.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽?

For many of us, the biggest obstacle isn't the audience. It's the conversation happening inside our own heads.

The judge.
The people pleaser.
The perfectionist.
The critic.

Toastmasters isn't about becoming a perfect speaker. It's about building the confidence to speak with clarity, authenticity, and courage.

Join us every Wednesday at 7:00 PM at the Lewis Centre (Craft Room A) in Courtenay. Guests are always welcome. You might discover that your strongest voice has been there all along.

Communication isn't just a leadership skill. It's a leadership system.

Most leaders believe communication is about speaking clearly.

It isn't.

It's about creating clarity, building trust, reducing uncertainty, and giving people the confidence to act.

When communication is inconsistent, people fill the gaps with assumptions. Priorities become blurred. Engagement declines. Trust begins to erode—not because people don't care, but because they no longer know what matters.

The best leaders don't communicate more.

They communicate with purpose.

They repeat the vision.
They explain the "why."
They listen as much as they speak.
And they understand that every conversation is shaping culture.

Leadership isn't measured by how well you present.

It's measured by how well your message changes understanding, alignment, and action.

Because communication doesn't just manage people.

It transforms organizations.
