A bit late on the post due to a social media break but better late than never! We had an amazing time this week with ! Having wine makers from around the world visit our little wine bar in Chatham always feels super special. Kerri was so pleasant and was able to perfectly express the passion and experience that her family brings to the Canadian wine scene, consistently landing them as one of the top producers in Canada. Absolutely amazing wines coming out of the Okanagan Valley! If you are interested in pre ordering some of these beauties please feel free to reach out!

Absolutely amazing afternoon with and ! Langhorne Creek and The Borossa Valley taste worlds apart despite being only 120km apart. Home of some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz vines in the world, (80-130 years old!) the depth of expression from old vines truly cannot be matched! We were truly blessed to have Nick visit our little Chatham wine bar today!

This Friday marks 1 YEAR since we opened the doors at Parlour Wine Co. — and I’m super thankful for the wine community we’ve started to build together here in Chatham-Kent. It’s been an amazing first year, and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.

New in the shop

Matías Riccitelli Tinto de la Casa

Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayete, Salta. He identifies as a traveler and a tireless dreamer. After countless harvests throughout the world, he decided to combine everything he has learned and dedicate himself to exploring the excellent terroirs of Mendoza and the teachings of his mentor, and father, Jorge Riccitelli.

This wine is the result of a Malbec-Malbec co-fermentation each coming from two different vineyards. Half of the grapes come from Las Compuertas, in Luján de Cuyo, at 1100 meters above sea level, the other half come from Gualtallary, in Valle de Uco at 1400 meters.

Las Compuertas vineyard is characterized by having 1 metre of clay/loam, and a very rocky subsoil with great drainage. The vineyard in Gualtallary has limestone soils that infuse the Malbec planted on it with spiciness and fresness.

This wine is fermented with 50% whole cluster in small French wooden vats with indigenous yeasts.

On the glass, it has a deep purple colour. On the nose, it combines floral notes with a spicy sensation and dark cherries. On the palate, it is a complex, rich wine, with soft tannins.

Well we are back to reality after the winter break! Thank you everyone for your patience while I have been away these past couple of weeks. As daylight savings time starts Sunday I am starting the spring wine planning. Additionally we will be adjusting the hours to align closer to Centro’s new hours. We will be open Thursday-Saturday 2:30-Close. Note 2:30-4:30 are bottle shop hours only as the kitchen is not open until 4:30. As always feel free to reach out to me anytime for all your wine emergencies or inquiries. 🥂
