It’s been a booming year for tourism on Prince Edward Island!
Yes, that meant busier roads, restaurants, and beaches, but it also means big wins for local businesses and our community.
Take the Lobster Trap Lounge for example. For owner Steve Arnold, this new spot is all about giving new life to an old institution and bringing back a piece of PEI history!
The original Lobster Trap Lounge opened in 1956 at Shaw’s Hotel (a National Historic Site of Canada) as PEI’s first licensed bar after Prohibition. It quickly became a beloved gathering place. This past year, the name and spirit have were revived at Port Charlottetown, serving fresh seafood, local cocktails, and laid-back coastal vibes to locals and visitors alike.
And here’s the star: the “Lobster Cone” - the world’s first! 🦞 A golden-baked cone filled with your choice of mac & cheese or mashed PEI potatoes, packed with succulent lobster, pickled onions, chives, and your choice of melted butter, Caesar, or curry sauce. Pure East Coast comfort food!
