We are very fortunate to have this 5 time Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards female vocalist of the year award winner want to play right here at the hall in Freshwater. September 12 at 7:30, $20 (cash only) on the door.
For over twenty years, Janet McGarry has been a dominant presence in bluegrass music, both at home and abroad. She has shared stages with some of the most revered performers of this genre, and of her time. She has delivered thirteen albums to date, that have earned her awards, accolades, and much deserved respect from the music industry. Among her most significant career accolades, Janet is a “Daughter of Bluegrass”, a leading group of female bluegrass artists, appearing as a lead artist on the cd “Bluegrass Bouquet”, the group’s third collaboration on Blue Circle Records, in Nashville, TN, and the Box Set of the Daughters of Bluegrass, “Pickin’ Like a Girl”, on the same label. Janet is also a five-time “Female Vocalist of the Year” at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards, the industry’s highest accolade.
From her early years performing at local talent shows, to forming her own record label “Diamond Productions PEI”, to performing and touring with her band Wildwood, Janet is devoted to her music. She keeps a busy appearance schedule including major bluegrass festivals, concert halls and other venues.
Janet now has thirteen CDs to her credit, as well as having recorded on several compilation CDs. Her voice and delivery capture the very essence of traditional songs. Be it the most prestigious surroundings, or backstage at a local concert hall, Janet’s presence and music will make you feel right at home.

Biography
Fiddle player Aidan Connolly and accordionist Bryan O’Leary are two leading performers of traditional Irish music.
Bryan O’Leary, a native of Tureencahill in County Kerry, is widely regarded as one of the leading accordion players of his generation and was named TG4 Young Musician of the Year in 2015. He is the grandson of the legendary Sliabh Luachra accordion player Johnny O’Leary, and his playing continues a rich family tradition rooted in the distinctive
repertoire of polkas and slides associated with the region.
Aidan Connolly, from Dublin, has received widespread acclaim for his distinctive fiddle playing and was nominated for Best Folk Instrumentalist at the RTÉ Folk Awards in 2022. He also performs the role of John Sheahan in the internationally touring stage show Dubliners Encore. His recordings have received critical praise in publications such as
The Irish Times and The Irish Echo.
Their album The Groves of Gneeveguilla, released on the Raelach Records label in late 2025, celebrates the music and musicians of Sliabh Luachra. Both musicians are experienced educators and have been invited as guest teachers at institutions including the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance (University of Limerick) and University College Cork, and regularly teach at music festivals and workshops in Ireland and abroad.
