Our 48th Season is due to kick off in September, 2022. We hope to return to online ticket sales in September. Concerts are at 8pm, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Our concert season normally runs from September to May. Our concerts take place at the Rosedale Community Association Hall, 901 11 Ave NW, Calgary. Each night begins with a set by either our house band, Horizon Ridge, or by another fine local band with a strong connection to the Rocky. Horizon Ridge members are Dianne Quinton on vocals, guitar, banjo and bass; Peter May on vocals, bass, guitar and harmonica; Steve Goodchild on vocals, guitar, mandolin, banjo, dobro and mandocello, and Helen Goodchild on vocals, fiddle, keyboard and bass. All four are Rocky volunteers - Steve is also Artistic Director and Helen is Treasurer. Their sets are lively and fun - guaranteed to set the mood for a great evening! During the rest of the evening we normally present two sets featuring various combinations of touring performers and/or some more of the great local talent available in the Calgary area. We hope you will enjoy the performers we have selected.

And the results are in! We had some incredibly talented spotlight artists this season. Thank you to each and everyone one of you for bringing something special to our first season in this format - you set the bar high! A huge congratulations to for being selected as the recipient of the 2025-2026 Spotlight Artist Award at the .listeningroom and special mention to runner up Toni Vere.

Jason wins a huge career builder prize including a tour with , recording time with , $1500 marketing consulting with Laura Dunkley, 60-minutes consultations with Vel Omazic, Carla Hackman and Stephanie Hutchinson, $250 as well as a season pass for the Rocky Mountain Listening Room and Workshops and a set at next seasons Alberta Night in May 2027.

Runner up Toni Vere also received recording time courtesy of Rocky Mountain Listening Room for a demo with .

Thanks to Tom Coxworth from Folk Routes for joining us for the evening to make the announcements and say some great words about the importance of community in music and Alberta.

Generous donations made our Spotlight Artist program possible - a huge thanks to the Anne O’hara gift of music and Brother Bicker Band’s Jeremy, as well as all the package sponsors.

Spotlight artists will happen again next season by invite or apply through our website. Spotlight Artist selection was a combination of audience support and board analysis based on standard criteria including performance, songwriting, musicianship, banter, promotion/marketing, communication, and community.

What a night we had last Friday! Here’s a recap for you with a night of storytelling from and spotlight songwriters and as well as a song to open the show by from the .songs 2025-26 project.

This was the final spotlight songwriter format for this season with the Spotlight Songwriter of the Season announced at the May concert. This chosen songwriter will win a robust prize package including a home routes tour, recording time, music industry consultations and more!

This will truly be a night of storytelling!

John Wort Hannam has been on a roots-fueled troubadour journey for over two decades, spinning songwriting gold from the chaff of the lives he encounters and those within his fertile imagination. After twenty plus years, he shows no sign of slowing down, winning the 2023 Canadian Folk Music Award for both Solo Artist and Contemporary Album of the Year. Audiences and critics alike hear something special in his narrative, lyrically driven songs.

Toni Vere is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose music carries the grit of lived experience and the grace of hard-won resilience. Rooted in folk, roots, and blues traditions, her songs are equal parts storytelling and soul-searching—threadbare in the best way: worn, honest, and unforgettable.

Calgary-based songwriter Adam Corkett blends Americana and Folk with the heart of a nomadic Canadian upbringing. A two-time WCMA–nominated artist and co-founder of Two Late To The Party, Adam is returning to his solo roots with a new album of honest storytelling and timeless folk clarity, set for release in 2026.

We live for live music, but sometimes the mountain weather has other plans. Unfortunately, due to travel conditions, Poor Nameless Boy has been forced to cancel his performance tomorrow night.

We’re disappointed, but we have spent the afternoon making sure the music doesn’t stop. We are excited to announce a special Songwriters’ Circle replacement that you’ll love!!

🎸Troy Kokol: folk mixed with country/roots with a sprinkle of pop

🎤Jenny Allen: Dynamic folk rock, with a twist of rootsy blues.

🎶Von Bieker: Indie-folk with a modern, soulful feel.

Joy Robinson and Kaylei McIvor will be performing as the opener spotlight songwriter in-the-round hosted by Craig McIvor.
