All good things must come to an end. Prime Time Restaurant will be officially closing its doors after 14 long years. We are endlessly thankful for the support and love that we have been shown throughout our time with you all. We wish the new owners nothing but the best and we are confident that they will serve Calgary in the same way we did our best to.

Tuesday, November 19th will be our last day in operation. We leave after a fair share of ups and downs, with an endless supply of memories, and countless relationships that grew far beyond these walls that we have plied our trade in. We would love one last chance to see you all in what will be our last full week doing what we do. Farewell week at Prime Time has begun.

To the Prime Time community, to the community of Ramsay, to the ones who are unfortunately no longer with us, and to everyone who has supported us in one way or another all these years, you will all forever be a part of our story. Thank you for joining the family.

Prime Time Restaurant. Where the phrase “I’ll just go for one” came to die. Thank you.

Ever wonder about the Rooster that can be found on our menus? Story time!

The Rooster of Barcelos is a popular legend in Portuguese folklore that tells the story of a miraculous rooster that saved an innocent man from a wrongful accusation of theft.

According to the legend, in the town of Barcelos, in the north of Portugal, rumours of a thief had left citizens restless. The authorities arrested a poor man who happened to be passing through the town and accused him of theft, even though he claimed to be innocent.

As the man was about to be executed, he requested a meeting with the judge who had sentenced him. The judge was attending a banquet at that time, but the man insisted and was finally granted an audience. The man proclaimed his innocence once again and pointed to a roasted rooster on the banquet table, saying that it would be proof of his innocence if it stood up and crowed. The judge laughed and dismissed the claim.

But to everyone's amazement, the roasted rooster stood up and crowed, proving the mans innocence. The man was immediately released, and the rooster became a symbol of faith, justice, and good luck. The rooster was later sculpted in wood or clay and painted in bright colors, and it became a popular decorative item and souvenir in Portugal.

Today, the Rooster of Barcelos is considered a national icon of Portugal and is often used to represent the country's national identity and culture. It is also a popular symbol of good luck and is believed to bring prosperity, happiness, and protection to its owners. You will never be surprised to find one in a Portuguese household, both in Portugal and abroad.
