True story - When you order enough fibre that even the spam calls start looking legitimate… 😂

My husband got a call from “Fibre Care” and, knowing I had recently placed a couple of guild orders, thought it might actually be related to one of them.

Spoiler alert: it was not.

Apparently the universe has decided that once you enter this fibre world, Fibre Care is a perfectly believable reason for a random phone call.

Reminder: know who’s calling before you answer—or before you assume another shipment of fibre is on its way!

Guild Members - Getting ready for the Annual Sale? Have questions? Bring them!

Our September Makers & Mentors session is all about helping guild members feel confident when preparing and submitting their work for the Annual Sale.

Come chat with experienced guild members about:

✨ How the jury process works
✨ Standards and expectations for sale items
✨ How to properly complete inventory tags
✨ Finishing and presentation questions
✨ And anything else you're wondering about!

Have a piece you're unsure about? Bring it along! Our mentors are happy to take a look and offer suggestions.

This is a chance to ask the questions you might not know who to ask and learn from fellow guild members who have been through the process.

AGM/Monthly meeting last night - voted in a new Exec team and the outgoing team shared all the amazing accomplishments from the last year - programming, community events, collab project, and much, much more!

We also had the results of our summer challenge - just look at all these creative name tags made by our talented guild members!

And that was just the beginning! Our Show & Tell was filled with wonderful summer projects — from a beautiful crocheted bag made entirely with hand-spun fiber, to a huge and amazing beach towel, and even a colourful sunflower created using a pinwheel technique. We also showed off all the towels that were woven with the collab project.

So much creativity, talent and inspiration within our guild! It’s always fun to see what everyone has been making.

We can’t wait to see what the year ahead brings. Here’s to another year of creating, learning and sharing together!

Don’t waste that garden waste! Turn it into a beautiful little basket.

As your garden winds down for the season, gather those long leaves and natural materials and discover how to weave them into a sweet, one-of-a-kind basket.

Lily, iris, bulrush—or whatever long-leafed plants are growing in your garden. And if you don’t have enough in your own garden, this is a great excuse to get to know your neighbours and ask what you can harvest!

Join Christine Muir, who has been weaving baskets for more than 35 years, for an afternoon of exploring the possibilities of natural vegetation.

Ever wanted to try spinning but didn't know where to start?

Our next Beginner Spinning Class has just dropped on the website. Learn the basics, gets hands on experience with a spinning wheel, and discover how much fun turning fibre into yarn can be.

Member cost: $210/Non Member $240
Includes cost of supplies and a guild spinning wheel if one is needed.

Our Makers & Mentors sessions are a series of peer-led learning opportunities for guild members, with a different topic, skill or technique featured in each session.

Each session is led by one of our own members, sharing their knowledge, experience and enthusiasm with the group.

Our next collaborative project is officially rolled on!

14 weavers, one warp, and a whole lot of anticipation about what’s going to come off these looms.

A little behind-the-scenes look at the warping and the finished rolled-on warp.

We’re keeping the pattern a secret for now… but we’ll reveal it soon!
