Sake barrels at Meiji Jingu Shrine - Yoyogi Park - Tokyo

The Meiji Jingu Shrine sake barrels have become a spiritual connection, a symbol of happiness, prosperity, and success.

The sake barrels are donated to this Shinto shrine by Japanese sake brewers to be used for ceremonies and festivals. Although empty of sake, barrels are full of spiritual significance, a powerful symbol uniting the brewers with their gods.

This is a sad day for the City of Calgary with the loss of a broadcasting legend, incredible story teller and a true gentleman, Darrel Janz at the age of 83.

We remember Darrel saying, “the word ‘retirement’ is not in my vocabulary,“ and indeed, Darrel kept telling people’s stories until his last days with his Inspired Albertans show, even featuring our founding partner at Caesar’s, Con Giannoulis on one of his episodes. On his last day of Inspired Albertans - Darrel Janz was himself featured on the last show.

Condolences to his family and all loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
