A BURLINGTON LANDMARK SINCE 1860 OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED A HERITAGE PROPERTY IN 2025

380 Brant Street has been part of downtown Burlington’s story for more than 165 years.

Originally built as a two-storey hotel in 1860, the building became known as the Burlington Hotel. During the 1890s, and became known as the Hotel Raymond. In later years, many Burlington residents knew it as the Coronation Hotel or Coronation House.

In 2025, the City of Burlington officially designated 380 Brant Street under the Ontario Heritage Act, recognizing its distinctive architecture and its connection to the early growth of Burlington.

Today, we’re proud that BLK Swan Kitchen Hub is part of the continuing story of this remarkable downtown landmark. Generations have gathered within these walls, and we’re honoured to keep that tradition alive.

A piece of Burlington’s past and still a place where the community comes together today.

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001.

I still remember sitting in the lobby of a Chrysler dealership, watching everything unfold on one of those square televisions mounted in the corner and struggling to believe what I was seeing.

I used AI to recreate that memory, not perfectly of course, but closely enough to remind me just how surreal that day felt.

Later that evening, I tried to explain it to my 4 year old son. I told him, “Some bad guys knocked those buildings down.” He couldn’t understand why anyone would do something like that…and honestly, neither could I.

Today he is almost 30, and an entire generation has grown up with no memories of that day.

I also remember saying to someone that one day the footage we were watching would eventually look dated. Unfortunately, that day has arrived. When you notice the cars, the clothing and the quality of the footage, you realize that it truly was a quarter of a century ago.

But for those of us who witnessed it, the memories have never faded.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed and the extraordinary courage shown by first responders and ordinary people.

Hug your family. Kiss your kids. Be kind to one another. Tomorrow is never guaranteed.
