2026 SKIDOO EXPEDITION .... ELKA SUSPENSION SHOCK DESIGN.

CAN YOU HELP US? We need a 26 EXPEDITION LE/SE/Sport for fitment.

We are just finishing the design on the New 154" Skidoo Expedition Extreme with U MOTION rear suspension for ELKA SUSPENSION. As some of you may know the rear shock mounts different between the EXTREME and the other models. We need to take a look at a 2026' LE or SE or Sport to confirm mounting clearances.

We would only need to borrow the machine for a day or two as most of the other fitment work (valving, centre shock, ski shocks etc) is done.

STORAGE CORROSION... THE REAL COST.

These photos may be hard to see, but our good customer Steve definitley has an issue with how he is parking his sled. This is his backup sled, so it doesn't get used as much as Steve's main ride, his Mach. I beleive he finishes every ride (Yes he can ride from home) down a salted township road, then parks the machine somewhere where it can't dry out. This photo was taken a few weeks ago at the end of a busy season. NOT after a very long period of storage!!!!

Steve contacted us due to accelerated and unacceptable hyfax wear on his machine. HE BARELY GOT 1200 KM OUT OF HIS HYFAX on a snowy winter and thought there was an installation problem.

After a thourogh inspection of his sled, we came to the conclusion it was RUST ON THE TRACK CLIPS THAT TOOK OUT THE SLIDERS. We have all seen the tell tale rust in the snow from the first 20-50 yards after storge in a wet trailer from carbides that may have sat a spell between rides, and the track clips do the same thing. Usually the rust gets cleaned off the first mile or so, but it grinds some life off the hyfax much like a bastard file. In Steve's case it just happened over and over and over again due to the corrosive environment and the hyfax couldn't take it. There was no fractured clips and both hyfax wore out at about the same rate.

In the last picture is Wurth's Film. This is an environmentally friendly corrosion spray/ lubricant that we fell in love with. It is amazing, we put it on our website for sale if you can't find it locally. We mist the sleds down after riding on a salty road and for summer storage. All the steel and aluminum bits on the sled. Bolt heads, rivets, suspension bits, steel skid parts, shock shafts, TRACK CLIPS, carbides and yes even the clutch outer sheaves carefully, masking the belt, inner sheaves, weights and rollers from unwanted lubrication (that discussion is a whole other post LOL).

Its only May, there is still time to look at that sled before it's long rest before next season. Elevate it, corrosion spray it and SPRAY THE TRACK CLIPS TOO!👍🤓(on top of your usual stoarage regime)

QUICK REMINDER

It was a great winter. We rode…. A lot. CHECK YOUR SLED OVER. It takes 10 seconds to check/feel your carbides.

2026/27 RAS RX Elka shock packages DONE !!

Andrew loaned us his 2026 Renegade 900 Turbo R to finish our design prototypes for Elka Suspension. Elka has entrusted Accelerated Technologies with the prototyping, designing and calibration for It’s snowmobile product line. Created on the trail and the Dyno for your comfort and control!

This is probably the most advanced set of shocks to come out of our partnership yet. Highly calibrated rebound curves to match the dual rate springs upfront, and the R motion rising rate linkage in the back give almost perfect control with rebound adjustability. Custom compression valving gives X package, comfort or XRS capability with 18 clicks of low and 16 clicks of high speed resolution. We are sorry, but three options for damping adjustment is just not enough. Rarely do we want a 50% change in damping when we make an adjustment. We typically want a 3 to 5% change. The Elka product fits the bill perfectly. Don’t be afraid. WE WILL TRAIN YOU on adjusting with your purchase!

We can’t stress the importance of having rebound adjustability. If the trails are smooth, you can slow it slightly and glue the machine to the trail for unbelievable handling. If the trail starts to get choppy and bumpy, you can open the rebound depending on your pace to stay on the top of the bumps, regardless of speed. Handlebar effort too high? Speed up centre shock rebound or slow ski shock rebound, bar effort disappears! You set it where you want it. 🤓👍

The result we find is incredible safety, and ability to stay on your side of the trail, regardless of the conditions.

We have heard many of our great performance customers say they’ve heard amazing things about PRECISION EFI, but they don’t want to send their ECU away for the 2 to 3 days it takes with outgoing and return shipping to go with a Stage1, Stage 1R or Stage 2 power upgrade.

PEEK INTO ELKA SHOCK DESIGN

Here we are designing the prototypes for the new 2026 Skidoo Renegade models with the RAS RX front end geometry.

Part of the design is not only matching physical fitment, of course, but spring rate improvements and as shown here, Dyno calibration and improvement. The centre shock on any skidoo model (not including Lynx or race models) does not have rebound control, and we find that is a major limitation to set up the comfort and handling of your machine.

Centre shock rebound allows you to maximize comfort if you set it quick or dramatically improve ski grip and handling if you slow it down. As you can imagine, if we delay the return of the centre shock even slightly the skis stay much more evenly loaded through the chop, giving you maximum safety and handling as the sled will stay online through the corner, regardless of the trail conditions.

TECH TIP:

When greasing a grease fitting, TAKE THE LOAD OFF! By ‘hanging’ the suspension as shown here, the grease will fill the cavity between the shafts that is normally compressed by the vehicle weight. This puts the grease where it is needed!

If you grease the fitting under normal weight or vehicle load, the grease will take the path of least resistance and fill the lesser used cavity on the back side away from the working area between the shafts or collar and bushing.

Get them in now. There is a tiny amount of oil in your shocks that does a ton of important business. Also a small amount of nitrogen, keeping it under pressure. If the nitrogen leaks out overtime, and it will, the shock can catastrophically fail ending your weekend. Get it into us before this happens. 705-657-9490
