Stop calling it "just pink wine!" 🛑🍷

If you think all Rosé is just a blend of red and white, think again. Rosé is a serious, intentional style of winemaking where the magic happens in the minutes, not days.

Unlike red wines that sit with their skins for weeks, Rosé only gets a "kiss" of the skins—sometimes just for a few hours—to achieve that perfect blush and a hint of texture without the heavy tannins.

Why your Rosé is more than a color:
• 🍓 Variety is key: From spicy Syrah to elegant Pinot Noir and bright Grenache, the grape matters! Each one brings a totally different flavor profile to your glass.
• 🦴 Dry is the new standard: Forget the sugary "blush" wines of the 70s. Most modern Rosés are bone-dry, crisp, and incredibly food-friendly.
• 🎨 Shades of flavor: A deeper pink doesn't always mean sweet—it often means more body and savory notes like cherry or spice.

Next time you pour a glass, remember: you’re drinking a centuries-old tradition that’s as complex as any red or white. 🥂

We currently carry Pinot Noir Rosé (limited edition-6 weeks), Grenache Rosé (6 weeks), and White Zinfandel (5 weeks).

🍷 The Story of the "Lost Grape" of Bordeaux... 🍷

Ever wonder how a grape simply vanishes? In the mid-1800s, a massive insect plague swept through France, wiping out the vineyards of Bordeaux. Among the casualties was Carménère, a brilliant blending grape that everyone presumed was lost to history.

Fast forward 150 years to Chile. Winemakers noticed some of their "Merlot" vines were ripening much later and tasting distinctively different. DNA testing revealed a historical miracle: Carménère wasn't extinct at all! It had been accidentally imported to South America and preserved for over a century by mistaken identity.

You may not have heard of Carménère before, but if you’re feeling adventurous, you have to try it. We would never steer you wrong! It has easily become one of our absolute favourite varietals.

Featuring gorgeous juicy notes of raspberry, red cherry, and plum, backed by a touch of smooth French oak and subtle spice, it is the ultimate crowd-pleaser.

The best part? It goes with everything.
🍕 Friday night pizza? Perfect.
🍔 Backyard burgers? Incredible.
🥩 Sizzling steak or roasted lamb? Absolute perfection.
…and honestly, it’s just as spectacular completely on its own when you're unwinding.

National Cheese Day 🧀🍷

Whether you're a fan of sharp cheddar or creamy brie, there’s no better way to celebrate than with a glass of wine that makes your favorite cheese shine.

Ever wonder why they work so well together? It’s all about balance! High acidity in wine cuts through the richness of fat, while tannins in red wine are softened by the proteins in aged cheese.

Try these 3 classic "Science-Backed" pairings tonight:
• Brie + Chardonnay: A match made in heaven! A buttery Chardonnay meets the creamy delight of Brie, with enough body to match its rich texture.
• Aged Cheddar + Cabernet Sauvignon: Bold tannins in the wine meet the high fat and salt of the cheddar for a smooth, savory finish.
• Goat Cheese + Sauvignon Blanc: Tangy meets zesty—the high acidity in both keeps every bite refreshing and vibrant.

International Sommelier Day

Today’s a nod to the pros who make wine a little less mysterious and a lot more enjoyable. Sommeliers don’t just recommend bottles—they understand how wine interacts with food, how regions shape flavour, and how small details can change the entire experience.

At its core, it’s about helping people discover what they like… and maybe nudging them to try something new along the way.

We may not be sommeliers (no fancy pins here), but we do know our wines. Tell us what you enjoy—or what you don’t—and we’ll help guide you toward something that fits your taste and your budget.

Sometimes the best bottle isn’t the most expensive one… it’s the one you actually want to pour a second glass of.

Guess the Wine 🍷

This white is known for its lush, aromatic style—bursting with notes of peach, apricot, and floral hints like honeysuckle. It’s typically fuller-bodied than most whites, with a smooth, almost creamy texture and lower acidity.

You’ll often find it paired with spicy dishes, roasted chicken, or anything with a touch of richness, as it holds its own without overpowering. While not the most well-known wine out there, those in the know enjoy it (me included!).

Wine + Spicy Food: How to Feel the Heat (Without the Pain)

Love spicy food but hate when your wine taps out early? Here’s the trick: heat and tannins are not friends.

🔥 What to avoid:
Big tannic reds + chili heat = mouth on fire, wine ruined, regrets made.

✅ What works instead:
• Off-dry whites – a touch of sweetness cools the burn / Riesling, Gewürztraminer
• High-acid whites – refresh, reset, repeat / Sauvignon Blanc
• Light, low-tannin reds – chill them slightly and thank us later / Pinot Noir
• Rosé – the unsung hero of spicy food

🍜 Perfect pairings:
Thai, Indian, Szechuan, jerk chicken, tacos with heat, spicy wings

💡 Pro tip:
Alcohol intensifies spice. Lower alcohol = happier mouth.

You want the wine to cool things down — not call the fire department. 🍷🔥

May 28 – Hamburger Day 🍔🍷

Burgers bring the fat, the char, and all the flavour—so your wine needs to keep up. Reach for reds with enough body and structure to cut through the richness, like Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, or Zinfandel. Their tannins help balance the fat, while bold fruit and spice stand up to that smoky, grilled edge.

Not a red drinker? A slightly chilled, fruit-forward red or even a robust rosé can do the trick.

Big flavours on the plate deserve a wine that doesn’t back down.
