DJ Freddy Merckx is een opmerkelijke figuur uit de Brusselse club- en dance scene van de jaren 80 en 90. Als vertegenwoordiger van de Brusselse underground scene staat hij voor authenticiteit. Hij is vooral bekend als resident DJ in de Ancienne Belgique (AB), in een tijd waarin de AB niet alleen een concertzaal was, maar ook een belangrijk epicentrum voor clubbing, new beat, disco en elektronische crossovers.
Hij staat bekend om zijn eclectische maar coherente stijl, lang voordat de term ‘open format’ gangbaar werd:
Disco & post-disco / Funk & soul / New wave / vroege elektronische muziek / New beat & underground dance.
DJ Freddy Merckx is a remarkable figure of the Brussels club and dance scene of the 1980s and 1990s. A true figure of Brussels' underground scene, he embodies heritage and authenticity.
