Famiglia!

It is with a heavy, bleeding heart that we are sharing this news with all of you.

We have decided to pull the plug out of Bacaro.

This decision comes with an enormous grief but at this stage in our life we are determined that it is the honorable thing to do.

We made friends for life and we had extremely fun nights with all of you! We loved all the experiences and stories you shared with us and we want to thank you in particular for being a part of our wonderful famiglia.

Tucked away in the historic heart of Ghent, Bacaro serves a fine selection of wines, apéros, cicchetti and delicious antipasti. Although the street name 'Donkersteeg' translates to ‘dark alley’, we promise you it’s a great gathering spot for you and your friends.

ANDÉMO BÉVER UN'OMBRA

When Venetians invite each other to go out for a drink, they use the common phrase “andémo béver un'ombra". This means as much as “let’s go drink a shadow", in which the shadow refers to a small glass of wine. It is a souvenir from the time when wine was sold in shaded stands at Piazza San Marco. The wine stands moved with the sun, in order to stay in the shadow at all times.

A good glass of wine is usually accompanied by ‘cicchetti’ and/or antipasti. Fresh and seasonal, these irresistible nibbles full of flavour will make your mouth water.
