- PhiPhi – PhiPhi 25 Years Belgium's legendary Afterclubs
DJ CAREER
DJ Phi Phi’s career started in 1985. One of the most reputable Belgian nightclubs requested Phi Phi as resident DJ at "At The Villa" in 1987. This was followed by him becoming a resident DJ at all the biggest and most famous nightlife clubs in Belgium, such as Boccaccio Life (Destelbergen), Cirao (Waregem), Café d’Anvers, Tour & Taxis, Fuse, Oxygene, Pulp, and Barocco. He is also well known all over Belgium for his “Phi Phi Legendary Mondays” at Extreme (Affligem, Brussels) between 1994 and 2002. He also played at clubs and festivals worldwide, such as Tomorrowland, Legacy Festival, WMC, Nikki Beach (Miami), Privilege (Ibiza), Noxx (Antwerp), Fuse (Brussels), and Pulse Factory, sharing the decks with headliners like Paul Van Dyk, John Digweed, Sasha, Oliver Lieb (LSG), Laurent Garnier, and Danny Howells.
PRODUCER CAREER
His debut in music production started with a completely French collaboration with Philippe Van Mullem in 1989, with projects like UNA (Emotion, Can You Hear Me...), HONEY C (Stop The Disease, Desire...), INNERTALES (Odysee, Voices Of Sirens...), QUADRAN (Eternaly, Free Your Mind...) and followed by the debut Quadran album "VOYAGE".
In 1995, Phi-Phi and French DJ-Producer Gregory Dewindt’s debut called “PHI PHI & GREG D – Jesus Trip” (X-Stream / DIKI Records) definitely shook up the nightlife scene and influenced many other artists, and is still one of the most famous and legendary tracks in the Belgian DJ scene today. This big seller was followed by the classic and popular releases “L’Odysee Of Love” and “Contact” on Bonzaï Trance Progressive. Mackenzie Recordings, founded by Stef Garner and Patrick Fasseau, signed Phi Phi to their label with the tracks “Magma” and “Jungles Trip” in 2003. Stef Garner and Phi Phi, under the nickname “DB Movement,” released the house track “Funk Shaker” (WORK Records) in 2005, and two more tracks, “Rotation” and “Evidence” (LCD Recordings) in 2013.
Phi Phi & Airwave started producing a very British progressive sound, inspired by the style of Bedrock. Influenced by tracks from Sasha & John Digweed such as “Back On Track”, “Breeze On The Nile”, “The Horn”, “Vanilla”, and “Finesse,” these tracks were signed by BONZAI PROGRESSIVE and topped the Beatport and iTunes charts in 2013.
In 2014, Phi Phi began a new collaboration with Roddy Reynaert, founder of IFONIKA RECORDINGS. Their first E.P. “Platinum” & “Neurotrope” was released as part of the special “Underground Series” on Roddy’s IFONIKA label. From 2015 to 2017, tracks like “Atlan,” “Believe,” “Mayhem,” “Circulation,” “Haarp,” “Aokighara,” “Tempora,” “Cirao” + Remix were released with Roddy on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE. “Tour & Taxi,” “Corossol,” and a remix of G-Brown’s “This is Who We Are” on SUFFUSED Rec, along with solo projects such as “Alone,” “Hiccup,” “Esteem,” “Breaking Danger,” and the compilation PHI PHI In The Mix 004 on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE.
2019 marked the start of a new collaboration with Manu Riga and the release of “Moon Dust,” “Those Who Left Us,” and “Voyage a Goa,” and “Larmes Dans La Pluie” on BONZAI PROGRESSIVE. Other tracks and remixes were also released on several other labels such as AH Digital, Bedrock Rec., etc. They also launched a new studio project called “KAYINDA,” with several releases and remixes to date.
Currently, Phi Phi has several new projects in the works, and he hosts a monthly podcast called "Mouvement Perpetuel," which is broadcast on various online radio stations worldwide. He is also collaborating in the studio with Bruno Sanchioni, Marc Denuit, Cedric Piret CP, Ignace Paepe, Kayinda (the list goes on) and producing for himself a proper sound of quality melodic progressive electronic music. Phi Phi is also remixing other artists into his signature, well-known sound.
In 2025, Phi-Phi will celebrate his 40 years in the scene as a DJ and producer with a club, event, and festival tour!
Beats from the heart, the sound of Phi Phi.
