Happy World Whisky Day… with a plot twist. 🥃
I had planned a quiet, dignified dram to celebrate.
Instead, the cork decided it had other ideas.
The moment I pulled it, it disintegrated into what can only be described as “organic confetti” — hundreds of tiny cork fragments floating through a perfectly good whisky. A collector’s nightmare. A whisky lover’s emergency.
So today’s tasting ritual became:
✔ Decanting
✔ Filtering
✔ Straining
✔ Trying not to lose a single drop
A useful reminder that whisky isn’t always about polished crystal glasses and romantic storytelling. Sometimes it’s patience, problem-solving, and knowing how to rescue a bottle without damaging the spirit.
For those wondering: yes, the whisky survived beautifully.
And yes, the first sip tasted even better after earning it.
Happy World Whisky Day to everyone celebrating — may your corks stay intact and your drams stay plentiful. 🥃
