The President and Council of the Barbados Association extend warmest and heartiest congratulations to Barbadians Khrystal Walcott, Communications Specialist .walcott and Council Member and Convenor of the BBA Criminal Law Committee, Attorney Martie Garnes, on being awarded the prestigious Chevening scholarship. We celebrate and wish Martie and Khrystal the best as they pursue academic and professional excellence.

We recognize the thought leadership, strength and calibre of those who serve within our Bar Council and take this opportunity to also commend and recognize the other hardworking and committed Council Members who, along with Martie, serve the Bar Association with integrity, insight, and tireless effort.

The online OCCBA mid year retreat is all set for this coming Saturday July 20, 2024 starting at 9:00 am EC time.

There will be 2 informative CLE presentations from The Hon. B. St. Michael Hylton, O.J., K.C. on important constitutional matters as well as Ms. Camille Garrison on legal aspects of Artificial intelligence.

The OCCBA Distinguished Awards will be presented to the Hon. Richard Mahfood, K.C. of Jamaica and Mrs. Stephanie Daly, S.C. of Trinidad & Tobago.

Reasons for the establishment of the CCAT.

Staff members of Community Institutions can not obtain redress under the original jurisdiction of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

The CCAT is an impartial and independent judicial body for the adjudication of any employment disputes between CARICOM Secretariat and CARICOM Institutions.

THE CCAT is competent to adjudicate upon any grievance or complaint by a member of staff of the CARICOM Secretariat or Eligible Institutions who alleges the breach of, or failure to observe, the contract of employment or their terms of appointment or provisions of the applicable Staff Rules and Regulations.
